The last week in MLB was about a starting pitcher re-signing with their team, a manager in the National League will be fired, and a starting pitcher is placed on the injured list.

The one-year deal for Wainwright will be worth more than $15 million, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The 39-year-old pitcher has been fantastic for the Cardinals during the 2021 campaign.
He has posted a 3.05 ERA in 206 1/3 innings pitched (32 starts) with 174 strikeouts, 50 walks allowed, 21 home runs yielded, a 127 ERA+, a 3.66 FIP, a 1.05 WHIP, and three complete games.
The veteran right-handed pitcher has spent his entire career with the Cardinals organization.
The three-time All-Star has finished twice in the top three for the National League Cy Young and helped the Cardinals won the World Series in 2006.
He has done a terrific job anchoring the starting rotation this season as he has proven to be reliable.
San Diego Padres Plan to Fire Manager Jayce Tingler
The San Diego Padres plan to fire manager Jayce Tingler, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Jayce Tingler will be relieved of managerial duties by the Padres. Tingler is a solid baseball man who did a good job last season. But considering the team’s lofty expectations and late-season collapse, this news was eaxpected.

The Padres have mentioned the reporting by Heyman about Tingler being fired premature, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Padres call report by @jonheyman that Jayce Tingler will be fired “premature.”
This is all typical firing season stuff.
As has been reported, this is AJ Preller’s call, and the expectation is Tingler and the coaching staff will be dismissed.— Kevin Acee (@sdutKevinAcee) October 2, 2021
Tingler has been the Padres manager for two seasons, guiding them to the National League Division Series in 2020.
The Padres had big expectations and a franchise-record $175-million payroll entering the 2021 campaign.
The team collapsed in the second half of the season as they posted a 25-42 record.
Last month, there was a confrontation in the dugout between star players Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado.
The Padres were a wonderful surprise last year, but for them to be an afterthought, the next season is a significant disappointment.
Once Tingler is officially fired, the Padres will be looking for a manager with experience.
Los Angeles Dodgers Place Starting Pitcher Clayton on Injured List
According to a team announcement, the Los Angeles Dodgers have placed starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw on the injured list with left forearm discomfort.
The Dodgers recalled RHP Mitch White and placed LHP Clayton Kershaw on the 10-day injured list with left forearm discomfort.

Kershaw was forced to leave his last start due to the injury.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw expected to undergo tests, but it seems like Kershaw will not be pitching for the Dodgers this postseason.
Roberts said he saw Kershaw grimacing a few pitches before he took him out of his last start.
The left-handed pitcher did not have his best stuff, and the injury prevented Kershaw from pitching effectively.
Kershaw will be a free agent at the end of the season, and that is an issue the Dodgers will have to address in the offseason.
The team will have to shift some things around with Kershaw unavailable.
They would have preferred to utilize pitcher Julio Urias the way they did last postseason.
Urias started some games but also was used as a reliever that threw multiple innings.
The Kershaw injury means the Dodgers will have Urias be a full-time starter, along with Walker Buehler and Max Scherzer.
