The prior week in MLB was about a starting pitcher in the National League who underwent shoulder surgery and could miss the 2024 season.
An infielder had an operation on his right elbow to remove a bone spur, and a team advanced to the NLCS.

Woodruff missed about four months of the regular season as he dealt with a subscapular strain in his throwing shoulder.
The loss of the right-handed pitcher is a significant blow to the starting rotation of the Brewers.
He was terrific on the mound for the team in limited action due to the shoulder injury.
Woodruff posted a 2.28 ERA in 67 innings pitched (11 starts) with one complete game, 74 strikeouts, 15 walks issued, nine home runs allowed, an 189 ERA+, 3.60 FIP, and a 0.82 WHIP.
The Brewers will have to replace his spot in the rotation by trading for a starting pitcher or signing someone in free agency.
Woodruff is eligible for arbitration for the final time this offseason and is set to become a free agent after the 2024 campaign.

He is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.
Lindor had played through the elbow injury, which he first felt in spring training, all season, per Andy Martino of SNY.
It turns out Mets’ Francisco Lindor was playing through an elbow injury all year, per source. He first felt it in spring training. As if his year weren’t impressive enough.

The Mets had a disappointing 2023 season, but Lindor was one of the few bright spots for the club.
He compiled a .254 batting average and .806 OPS in 160 games with 108 runs scored, 153 hits, 33 doubles, two triples, 31 home runs, 98 RBIs, 31 stolen bases, and a 120 OPS+.
This marked the first time since 2019 with the Cleveland Indians that Lindor had a season with 30 or more home runs.
The Mets will need Lindor to have a similar season in 2024 to compete for a division title in the NL East.
Hopefully, Lindor will have a smooth recovery process and no setbacks.
