Trevon Diggs Injury

On September 21, 2023, Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a knee injury during practice. Many suspected the worst news with Diggs being seen on crutches. Unfortunately, x-rays showed that Diggs had suffered a torn ACL.

An ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is a ligament inside the knee that stabilizes the knee from excessive forward movement. Many pro athletes have suffered this injury, and the recovery is lengthy. It can take six to nine months for athletes to see the field again. The Cowboys have the best defense in the league, holding their opponents to only 10 points in two games. However, their defense takes a massive blow without their Pro Bowl cornerback.

Who Is Bart Scott

Bart Scott is a former NFL linebacker who played ten seasons in the NFL. Scott played for the Jets and the Ravens. In 2006, Scott had his best season with the Ravens. The First Take Incident

On the September 22nd episode of First Take. The crew, Stephen A. Smith, Molly Qerim, Ryan Clark, and Bart Scott, were discussing the impact of Digg’s injury. Throughout the discussion, we saw a serious tone from Smith and Clark, sympathizing over losing one of the best defenders in the league. Nonetheless, when it was Scott’s turn to speak, he made a shocking remark no one expected to hear. “Like Stephen A. always says, just wait; something bad always happens.” Scott was referring to Smith’s history of trolling Cowboys fans for numerous playoff exists and season losses. However, Smith has never made fun of an athlete getting injured. After Scott’s statement, you can see a visibly demoralized Smith and Clark. Both ensured that this injury was no laughing matter.

Several NFL players were upset about Scott’s mocking of Digg’s injury. Players like Micah Parsons went on Twitter to post their displeasure.“Wtf ?? He ole hating ass old head!! Lame asf!! This is why I really don’t like talking to dudes in the media!!..”. While Stefon Diggs, Trevon’s older brother responded to Scott with “Bart Scott. Like what did you gain from that? Other than looking like a (clown emoji).”

Scott then took to Twitter and responded to the criticism. “Been called a lot of stuff in my life lame isn’t one of them. Was never joking about an injury. Was speaking of bad luck & how a SB contender loses one of the most important players in their scheme.”
