The last week in MLB was about a player in the American League reaching a significant milestone, a team in the divisional round of the playoffs making history, and a starting pitcher is expected to opt-out.

The home run by Judge broke Roger Maris’ team record and American League record, which had been in place since 1961.
The Yankees dugout exploded as every player came out to greet Judge at home plate.
New York Yankees icon and Hall of Famer Derek Jeter sent Judge praise on social media.
Judge owns the AL record for home runs in a season, but he was 11 homers short of the overall record held by Barry Bonds in 2001.
Judge had a 2022 season for the ages and will be remembered for several years.
The outfielder’s season was great, and it was more remarkable considering he turned down a seven-year, $213.5-million contract by the Yankees before the season began.
He will be a free agent once the offseason starts and is in line for a record contract.
He proved throughout the year that he could carry a team, as he was one of the reasons the Yankees won the AL East division.

The Seattle Mariners made history in Game 2 of their Wild Card Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
They overcame a seven-run deficit to defeat the Blue Jays 10-9 and advance to the American League Division Series.
Mariners infielder Adam Frazier laced a double to right field, scoring the game-winning run for the team in the ninth inning.

The Mariner’s comeback is the largest by a road team in the postseason, the largest comeback to clinch a postseason series, and tied for the second-largest comeback win in any postseason game, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

The resiliency will benefit the Mariners in the ALDS as they will face their division rival, the Houston Astros.
The Astros had the best record in the AL, winning 106 games during the regular season.
They won the season series against the Mariners 12-7.
The Mariners will be the underdog in the ALDS against the Astros, but that is a role that suits this team.
San Francisco Giants Expect Starting Pitcher Carlos Rodon to Opt-Out of Deal
The San Francisco Giants expect starting pitcher Carlos Rodon to opt out of his deal, per Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic.
Zaidi on Rodón: "Obviously we fully anticipate Carlos to opt out and that will create an opening on our pitching staff."
— Andrew Baggarly (@extrabaggs) October 7, 2022
Rodon had signed a two-year, $44 million deal with the Giants before the 2022 season.
The contract signed by Rodon stipulated he could opt out of the second year if he pitched 110 innings this year.
The left-hander posted a 2.88 ERA in 178 innings pitched (31 starts) with 237 strikeouts, 52 walks issued, 12 home runs allowed, a 140 ERA+, 2.25 FIP, and a 1.02 WHIP.
Rodon will be a target for teams this offseason that want a starting pitcher to anchor their rotation.
He proved this past year with the Giants that he can lead a staff.
