The prior week in MLB was about a team in the American League doing something remarkable.

A club avoids arbitration with a player, and a reliever in the National League suffers a season-ending injury.

Houston Toss Combined No-Hitter Against New York Yankees

The Houston Astros pitching staff accomplished something special a couple of days ago as they tossed a combined no-hitter against the New York Yankees.

Cristian Javier did not yield a hit through seven innings while accumulating 13 strikeouts; Hector Neris pitched the eighth, and closer Ryan Pressly finished things off in the ninth against the Yankees to complete the combined no-hitter.

This was the 14th time the Astros have tossed a no-hitter in franchise history.

For the Yankees, this marked the eighth time they have been no-hit.

Ironically, the Astros were the last team to do it to them due to another combined no-hitter in 2003.

The Yankees made some history with the no-hitter by the Astros.

They entered the game with a 52-19 record (.732).

That is the highest win percentage ever for any American League/National League team entering a game in which they were no-hit, per Stats By STATS.

The Astros completed the third no-hitter of the 2022 season.

The New York Mets also have a combined no-hitter, while Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers is the only pitcher to toss a no-hitter by himself.

The three pitchers for the Astros had a day they will not forget, as it is rare to toss a no-hitter against a club with the best record in MLB.

New York Yankees Reach Deal with Outfielder Aaron Judge to Avoid Arbitration

The New York Yankees avoided going through an arbitration hearing with outfielder Aaron Judge after both parties settled on a $19-million salary plus incentives for the 2022 season, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Judge can earn $250,000 for a first-place MVP finish and another $250,000 for winning World Series MVP, according to Feinsand.

The Yankees initially offered $17 million, while Judge countered their offer at $21 million.

The two sides could not reach an agreement on a long-term deal before the season after Judge rejected a seven-year, $213.5 million offer from the Yankees.

Judge has played a critical role in the Yankees having the best record in MLB.

He has compiled a .295 batting average and 1.007 OPS in 70 games with 79 hits, 11 doubles, five stolen bases, a 185 OPS+, and leads the AL with 58 runs scored and 27 home runs.

He will be highly coveted as a free agent once the season is over, given the success he has had this year.

Los Angeles Dodgers Reliever Daniel Hudson Out for Season with Torn ACL

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without reliever Daniel Hudson for the rest of the season as he tore his ACL several days ago, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

Hudson underwent tests that confirmed a clean tear of the ligament.

He will need to have surgery to repair the torn ligament, and the recovery process for a torn ACL is between six-to-nine months, according to Ardaya.

Hudson, who has already made two separate comebacks from Tommy John surgery during his 13-year career, said he plans to continue pitching after completing rehab.

The loss of Hudson is significant for the Dodgers as he posted a 2.22 ERA in 24 1/3 innings (25 games) with five saves, 30 strikeouts, five walks issued, one home run allowed, a 192 ERA+, and 2.05 FIP.
