The previous week in MLB was about a pair of starting pitchers in the American League making history, and a superstar outfielder will be sidelined for several weeks.

Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Spencer Turnbull Tosses No-Hitter

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Spencer Turnbull had a memorable start facing the Seattle Mariners as he tossed a no-hitter against them.

Turnbull needed 117 pitches to complete the momentous accomplishment, striking out nine batters and yielding just two walks.

This marked the eighth no-hitter in Tigers history and the first since Justin Verlander’s second with the team back in 2011.

Turnbull fired the fifth no-hitter of the season.

This was the second time during the 2021 campaign the Mariners were unsuccessful in recording a hit after Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher John Means was masterful on May 5.

The Mariners are the second team in MLB history to get no-hit at home twice in a two-week span, per Stats By STATS.

The most no-hitters in a season in the modern era (since 1900) are seven, and the most in a season are eight in 1884, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

The impressive aspect of Turnbull tossing the no-hitter is he entered the start with a career record of 9-25 (.265).

He became the first pitcher in the modern era to throw a no-hitter after entering the game with a sub- .300 winning percentage (minimum 10 decisions), according to Stats By STATS.

Turnbull had a memorable outing, and it is one he will remember forever.

Corey Kluber Tosses New York Yankees First No-Hitter Since 1999

New York Yankees starting pitcher Corey Kluber made history in his last start as he tossed a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers.

He became the first Yankees’ pitcher to throw a no-hitter since David Cone pitched a perfect game against the Montreal Expos on July 18, 1999.

Kluber allowed just one walk and struck out nine batters on 101 pitches to complete the sixth no-hitter of the season in MLB.

This was the 11th regular-season no-hitter in Yankees history and 12th overall, including the perfect game by Don Larsen in the 1956 World Series.

Kluber tossed the sixth no-hitter of the season.

The Yankees signed Kluber to a one-year deal in the offseason to provide some rotation depth.

He looked like Kluber from years ago, who won multiple Cy Young awards with the Cleveland Indians.

Kluber had a shoulder injury in the 2020 season, which limited him to throwing just an inning for the Rangers.

The right-handed pitcher completed the no-hitter one day after Detroit Tigers starter Spencer Turnbull tossed a no-no.

This marked the first time there were no-hitters on back-to-back days since April 30 and May 1, 1969, per Stats By STATS.

The no-hitter by Kluber was remarkable, considering he was injured the previous season.

Los Angeles Angels Outfielder Mike Trout Out Several Weeks with Calf Injury

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout will be out six to eight weeks as he suffered an injury to his right calf, per a team announcement.

The loss of Trout is monumental for the Angels as he is arguably one of the best players in MLB.

Trout was having a fantastic start to the 2021 season before the injury occurred.

The superstar outfielder posted a .333 batting average and 1.090 OPS in 36 games with eight doubles, eight home runs, and 18 RBIs.
