Ichiro Sets Record for Most Hits by Foreign-Born Player
Ichiro Suzuki has had many memorable moments in his career and achieved another significant milestone.
He passed Rod Carew for 24th on the all-time hit list Thursday and has the most hits for a player born outside the United States, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

There it is, Ichiro Suzuki produces his 3,054th hit, giving him more hits than any player in #MLB history born outside of the United States.

Ichiro isn’t having a terrific 2017 campaign as he has compiled a .222 batting average and .559 OPS in 108 at-bats with eight RBIs.
The Miami Marlins have primarily used Ichiro as a pinch-hitter and will occasionally start him when one of their outfielders needs rest.
It is good to see that despite Ichiro’s struggles at the plate, it hasn’t deterred him from setting more records.
Yankees Seeking Trade For Marlins’ Bour
The New York Yankees will be seeking an upgrade at first base before the trade deadline passes, but might have set their sights too high with a player they’re targeting.
The team would like to acquire Marlins first baseman Justin Bour, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Bour would be a tremendous addition to the Yankees as he’s having a fantastic 2017 season. The first baseman has a .286 average and .914 OPS in 76 games with 11 doubles, 20 homers, and 57 RBIs.
The only problem for the Yankees is the price for Bour won’t be cheap. He is under team control for three more years, and the Marlins will want a substantial return.
The Yankees have a dynamic offense, but are last in the majors with a .201 average from first baseman, per ESPN.
This is a weakness the club hopes to fix before the trade deadline.
Mets Place OF Nimmo on DL with Partially Collapsed Lung
The New York Mets put outfielder Brandon Nimmo on the disabled list Saturday with a partially collapsed lung, per James Wagner of the New York Times.
Mets announce Michael Conforto has been activated from the DL & corresponding move is Brandon Nimmo to the DL with partially collapsed lung.

Nimmo was brought to the hospital on Friday night, but a positive aspect is the issue isn’t life threatening, per the New York Daily News.
The Mets activated OF Michael Conforto from the DL to take Nimmo’s roster spot.
The Mets have been a miserable team this season placing various players on the DL with varying injuries.
It would be great to see Nimmo back on the field when eligible because it’s an unusual injury.
