We are on the verge of spring ball starting for the USF Bulls and the rest of college football. The Bulls are looking to continue to improve after back-to-back 6-6 regular seasons with both ending in bowl wins. It has been exciting since head coach Alex Golesh took over two years ago. USF spring game is scheduled on April 26th for a night game under the lights. We get to see the current Bulls and what we have in the future and the game moves rather quickly. The fans of the program want to see the Bulls win more than six regular season games. They want USF to be playing or hosting the AAC Championship game. This year team has adapted a new theme and that is “Fourth and Inches”.
The players in the program love playing for Golesh and are ready to go battle for him. The new slogan means that its players doing all the little things at an elite level. For example, defensive coordinator Todd Orlando said it is like going into meetings and being prepared for meetings take notes and digest concepts and being elite in school is what it all means. This concept will make any program better because all players have free time and if they use it wisely, they could be better. If they adapt it and are willing to play better and take care of your body, it will them and the program. During the Hawaii Bowl USF that went to a five-overtime clash and where the winning play came from was after the Bulls stopped the Spartans running back. After the stop the Bulls kicked a game winning 41-yard field goal.
Also, in that game defensive back Jarvis Lee forced a fumble at the goal line that prevented a San Jose State touchdown and went as a touchback for USF. During the Hawaii Bowl linebacker Mac Harris batted away a Spartans pass that ended the game. These are the types of plays that were finished, and it resulted in wins for the Bulls. USF will open against the Boise State Mustangs and then have two big road games against the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators. Many fans on social media say if they can get wins versus these teams would be great but are hoping they do better within the AAC.
If the players and as of right know they accepted this new theme which great. The games within the AAC are important and if they can follow through with it they can more wins in the conference. It can all start right now, and we will see it start in the spring game. The coaches will lean on the upperclassmen to mentor the underclassmen. In the game of football, it is the small things that can make a difference and can result in a victory. These players are ready to play and with the spring game later this month its time to get started. The little things can lead to big things.
