We are still in the shadows of the national championship game which the Ohio State Buckeyes won. The rest of the nation has finished winter ball and spring ball will start soon. All teams are now getting ready to focus on their spring game. The USF Bulls are coming off yet another 6-6 regular season and back-to-back bowl game wins. Searching on social media found that fans are ready for the 2025 season where they will see the Bulls play the Boise State Broncos, Miami Hurricanes, and Florida Gators. They will play the Broncos at home and the Gators and Hurricanes on the road. The fans have said they understand losing to those teams but must do better in the AAC. In 2023, the Bulls beat the Rice Owls handily but struggled and lost to them in 2024. USF fans want to see a better team.
Head coach Alex Golesh continues to have a positive outlook on where the program is. When Golesh arrived at USF he said, “I said we were going to build a program, rather than just a team”. The results of the last two seasons have shown that this coming true. It will be interesting to see how the start of the 2025 season goes. Can they win one of those games versus the Broncos, Gators, and Hurricanes? That may be because Golesh is enthused about recruiting and the transfer portal. Between both of those, 40 new players are part of the 105-player roster. Golesh has always wanted to make sure he gets the right players at USF not just for their athletic ability but their personality. It only takes one player to destroy a locker room which is very hard to get back.
We have seen many players throughout college football that get to a point where they say I am tired, and I want out. For coaches, that is one of the hardest things to do. Make sure to try and keep all their players happy. At this point, Golesh has gotten it right as there have not been many problems with players that do not want to play at USF. One of the best pieces of news is that many thought that quarterback Bryum Brown was leaving the program. According to Golesh, Brown is not leaving and getting ready for the spring game. The Bulls will once again have Brown and Bryce Archie as the starting quarterback and backup quarterback. So far, 28 of the newcomers have enrolled early and will participate in 15 spring practices that all start on March 25th. This is great for the program.
After watching the Super Bowl, we all saw how to win games. It starts with the offensive line making sure to protect the quarterback and open holes for the running back. The offensive transfers that are going to have hit the ground running are Connor McLaughlin, Thomas Shrader, Khalil Walker, Collin Bellamy, Khalil Collins, and Gerrick Gordon Jr. These gentlemen are going to a big part moving forward. On top of these players, USF also got running back Cartevious Norton, and wide receivers Chas Nimrod, Kory Pettigrew, and Jeremiah Koger. They also have two new tight-ends in Wyatt Sullivan and Tayte Crable and a quarterback in Lockland Hewlett. The Bulls also got 10 defensive transfers in Dre Butler, Josh Celiscar, Jacob Merrifield, Jonas Duclona, Boogsie Silvera, Eli Jones, Jeremiah Jones, Gavin Leach, Jabari Smith, and Brooks Williams Jr. There were also three special teams players. 2025 looks good so far.
Well, the USF Bulls win more than six games and win an AAC Championship in 2025? Leave a comment below.
