Manning was making his third start since coming off the injured list, compiled five strikeouts, issued three walks, and hit one batter during his 96-pitch start.
This was the first no-hitter at home by the Tigers since Justin Verlander accomplished the feat against the Milwaukee Brewers in 2007, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The Tigers tossed only the second no-hitter on July 8 in MLB history.
The other happened on this date in 1898 by the Phillies’ Red Donahue against the Boston Beaneaters, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

It’s a tremendous accomplishment by Manning, Foley, and Lange to throw a combined no-hitter and something that each pitcher will remember for quite some time.

Altuve had missed some games last week due to the injury, and Astros general manager Dana Brown mentioned the club did not believe the injury was severe.
The infielder had missed four games in early June because of a right oblique injury.
This marks the second time this season in which Altuve will be on the injured list.
He was out until May 19 after fracturing his right thumb in the World Baseball Classic.
Altuve is having a decent season for the Astros despite the injuries.
He has posted a .264 batting average and .850 OPS in 32 games with 25 runs scored, eight doubles, six home runs, 18 RBIs, five stolen bases, and a 135 OPS+.
The Astros have remained competitive as they are second in the American League West behind the Texas Rangers.
They will need Altuve healthy in the second half of the season to contend for a playoff spot.
Chicago Cubs Place Shortstop Dansby Swanson on IL with Bruised Left Foot
The Chicago Cubs have placed shortstop Dansby Swanson on the injured list with a bruised left foot, per a team announcement.

The Cubs do not expect Swanson to be sidelined too long with the injury.
Swanson is having a solid 2023 season with the Cubs as he has compiled a .258 average and .753 OPS in 83 games with 41 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 36 RBIs, four stolen bases, and a 105 OPS+.
During the offseason, the shortstop signed a seven-year contract with the Cubs and was selected to his second All-Star team.
