Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Fined for Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had single-game career highs in receptions (9) and yards (149) in the Dallas Cowboys Week 6 overtime win against the New England Patriots. Lamb came up big at the end of regulation with a 24-yard reception on 3rd and 25 and caught the walk-off game-winner.

At the end of the play, Lamb waved goodbye at Patriots cornerback Jalen Mills. Unfortunately for the second-year sensation, it will cost him some greenbacks as he was fined by the league according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Mills shoved Lamb to the ground after he scored the game-winning touchdown but wasn’t fined, which shows the inconsistency of the NFL’s league office when comes to such matters. Nonetheless, it’s a small financial setback for Lamb and one he surely isn’t considered about.

Lamb was on pace last season to reach 1,000 yards as a rookie but unfortunately, Dak Prescott had a season-ending ankle injury and missed 11 games. However, even a quarterback carousel and a banged-up offensive line couldn’t stop Lamb from registering 74 receptions for 935 yards and five touchdowns.

The former first-round pick has had a great start to his second season. He ranks 10th in receiving yards with 497 which also leads the Cowboys. Also, he’s tops in targets (49) and receptions (33) for Dallas while being tied with Amari Cooper for the team lead with four touchdown catches.

This all can be attributed to Lamb’s chemistry with Prescott in albeit a short sample size. Lamb has played 11 games with Prescott going back to last season and has hauled in 62 receptions for 930 yards and six touchdowns. Over a 17-game season, which the NFL moved to in 2021, that would be 96 receptions for 1,437 yards and nine touchdowns. Lamb is the Cowboys’ No. 2 receiver currently, and third when Michael Gallup is healthy which makes his connection with Prescott even more special.
