The Dallas Cowboys had their once-promising season where they compiled a 12-5 record brought to an abrupt end in the wild-card round last weekend. It wasn’t just that they lost, but how they lost. The Cowboys looked unprepared and not ready for the moment and it was unacceptable considering their talent level.
Life must go on though and the Cowboys are now starting their offseason earlier than expected. Free agency and the NFL Draft are right around the corner. However, the Cowboys now know who they will play in 2022 as their opponents are set in stone.

The Cowboys have their usual three home/away games against the NFC East. One home game in particular sticks out for the Cowboys in 2022. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the schedule for Dallas for the second straight season. Last September, they kicked off the 2021 season with a thriller at Raymond James Stadium. The Cowboys forced four turnovers and Dak Prescott threw for over 400 yards and three touchdowns. However, Tom Brady engineered yet another game-winning drive to seal a 31-29 victory.
If the Buccaneers don’t win the Super Bowl this could be a Week 1 matchup again.
The Cowboys look to have several tough road games but it’s highlighted by the Green Bay Packers. This rivalry goes back to the beginning of the Super Bowl era and it’s continued over the past decade. The Packers dominated the Cowboys in the 2010s going 7-1 which included two gut-wrenching losses for Dallas in the 2014 and 2016 playoffs. The Cowboys’ only win over that span came in the regular season in 2016.
If the Packers go on to win the Super Bowl, the Cowboys could very well be their first opponent next season like they were for the Buccaneers in 2021.
Those aren’t the only intriguing matchups for the Cowboys next season. They travel to California to face the Los Angeles Rams, a team that ended their 2018 season in the playoffs and defeated them in the 2020 season opener. Also, their 17th game will be an extra inter-conference matchup with quarterback Joe Burrow, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase up and coming Cincinnati Bengals.
Will the Cowboys win 12 games again in 2022? Only time will tell, but it won’t be easy if they do.
