The game of golf is fun for most. Some love the game for how they play, others like it because it gives them time to drink. I call those types of golfers weekend warriors. I have played with many golfers that are weekend warriors. Let me state that I have no problem with weekend warrior golfers. I do not drink anymore and have not had an alcoholic beverage in five-plus years. I have seen some golfers drink beer and mixed drinks. There are drinking games on the golf course. My late uncle told me he played in one where everyone took a shot for every golf shot. That led to the foursome being drunk quickly. Either way, it does make the round of golf more fun. If golfers choose to drink they just have to be careful.

I took some time to read about weekend warrior golfers. The one thing that they want to do is drink something lite. Between the beer and mixed drink beer might be the better choice. Depending on how strong the liquor is in the mixed drink in some cases beer has a lesser alcohol content. If I am incorrect on this, remember I do not drink anymore. If I did decide what to drink while playing golf I would probably drink something that would loosen me up. The golf swing is very complex and anything that can make your muscles relax will help. I heard many players that drink while on the course call alcohol swing grease. It helps them swing easier. If a player has something in their stomach they can feel full and it will slow the player down.

If you chose to drink a player should pace themselves. Having a casual drink on the course can be good but too much could ruin your round. A player that drinks too much could be hitting the ball all over the place. I know that many do that whether they drink or not. It will happen more if a player has too much to drink. 18 holes is a lifetime if one cannot keep the ball in play. Many golfers say that the reason the Scottish decided on 18 holes is there are 18 shots in the bottle of whiskey. Once the bottle is empty the round is over. If a player decides to have a couple of mixed drinks, say one every nine holes, that would be fine. It would keep you loose and not drag you down.

If a golfer decides to drink alcohol it is also good to drink some water. Golf mostly takes place in warmer weather. That means it can get very hot. Alcohol and soda can dehydrate a person must faster. Having a heat stroke is not good. I have experienced a golfer having a heat stroke and passing away later on that day. There are three places where most business deals go down and one of those is on the golf course. If you’re entertaining a client buying drinks is a good thing but do not overdo it. In the end, the game of golf is fun so just pace yourself while drinking on the course. Golf is supposed to be fun no matter if you drink or not.
