It is that time of the year again time for the lush green grass and beautiful azaleas. Augusta National will once again shine as it’s time for the 2024 Masters Tournament the 88th time of the tournament. The Par 3 competition that has become so popular will be happening in the next couple of days. Rory McIlroy will be skipping the event to focus on the only major he has never won. McIlroy has had some close calls but never has gotten the chance to wear the green jacket. Jon Rahm who won the 2023 Masters will host the annual champions dinner. Rahm has since deferred to the LIV Tour. Also, Tiger Woods is trying to make history. If he cuts, he will become the player to cut the most at The Masters. He has a personal event he is skipping this week.

Woods announced earlier this month he is not having sex to try and keep his energy for the tournament. He believes that if things go right, he could win the green jacket again that he last wore in 2019. Many, if not all golf fans, were in tears after he won because we never thought we would see it again. The question as we roll into the first major of the season is when the LIV/PGA tours will unite. Rahm was asked about that and he said it was not his decision. Champions Tour player Bernard Langer who is a past champion will call it as a player at The Masters in 2025. The reason behind that is he tore his Achilles while playing pickleball. The tournament will begin with Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tom Watson doing the ceremonial tee shots to start The Masters.

13 LIV players will tee it up. The players outside of Jon Rahm are Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Tyrell Hatton, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Adrian Meronk, Phil Mickelson, Joaquin Niemann, Patrick Reed, Charl Schwartzel, Cameron Smith, and Bubba Watson. Some of those players are past champions. Five amateur players will go out for top amateur at The Masters. Those players are Santiago De La Fuenta, Christo Lamprecht, Jasper Stubbs, Neal Shipley, and Stewart Hagestad. An amateur player has not won a major for a long time. On Thursday and Friday, the tee times begin at 8 a.m. and the last tee time is 2 p.m.

The players that are on the field that could win. The three biggest ones are Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, and Scottie Scheffler. The pressure is of course more of these three players to win. Between these three two are the PGA Tour in McIlroy and Scheffler and Rahm is the only LIV player that is favored to win. We all must wait and see how Augusta National will treat the players. We all know that Amen Corner holes 11-13 will play an important role in who wins the tournament. This is my favorite major of the year and I get choked up watching it as it was a majority time, I watched it with my late uncle. Let’s see who plays well makes the cut and takes home the green jacket on Sunday.
