 
        TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Boston College baseball team salvaged its series against No. 18 Florida State with a 5-3 win at Dick Howser Stadium on Sunday. Battling through two rain delays, the Eagles came ay with the win to move to 15-18 overall and 5-16 in the ACC, while the Seminoles fell to 18-14 and 13-11.
BC put two on the board in the third inning before FSU answered with a two-run home run from right fielder Robby Martin in the fourth. Junior center fielder Sal Frelick (Lexington, Mass.) doubled with two away and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth.
Graduate right-hander Alex Stiegler (Dallas, Texas) walked the first two batters of the fifth and issued a wild pitch to put two runners in scoring position. After a strikeout and a fly ball to right, he was lifted for graduate lefty Joey Walsh (Plymouth, Mass.). After an intentional-walk loaded the bases, he got Martin to ground out and end the threat.
The game, which started 90 minutes late due to rain, then entered a 52-minute rain delay. Graduate first baseman Jack Cunningham (South Riding, Va.) restarted the action with a leadoff-single and graduate right fielder Dante Baldelli (Cumberland, R.I.) drove him in with a sacrifice-fly.
Walsh (2-3) went back to the mound after more than an hour in the dugout. He pitched the final 4.1 innings to earn the win and allowed just one run on one hit and six walks with four strikeouts. Stiegler pitched the first 4.2 innings and surrendered just the two runs on the home run with three walks and three total hits against him to go with four strikeouts.
Cunningham went 2-for-4 with a double and graduate shortstop Brian Dempsey (Potomac, Md.) went 3-for-5 with a RBI.
