GREEN BAY, Wis. – Boston College offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo was selected with the 56th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears on Friday night.
Trapilo’s selection marks the 226th all-time BC player drafted and continues the streak of an Eagle hearing his name called at the NFL Draft to 11 consecutive years.
Head coach Bill O’Brien on Ozzy Trapilo: “Ozzy is a smart, tough, dependable player with great leadership qualities. He was a unanimous captain selection, as voted by his teammates. Ozzy has all the tools to be a great left or right tackle in the NFL. He is able to run block, double team block, pull, and block the defensive ends or defensive backs on the second level, and he is an elite pass blocker. Week in and week out, he set the tone up front. Ozzy played with great pad level for a man of his size. He has the ability to block speed and power off the edge. Ozzy is a consistent person and he will do whatever is best for the team. Ozzy will be a great pro.”
Trapilo was a 2024 First Team All-ACC selection, starting all 12 regular-season games at right tackle. He earned a 74.1 offensive rating from PFF and a team-best 81.0 pass block rating on the season. A key component of an Eagles’ offensive line that led the way for four games of 200-plus rushing yards and two games of 300-plus yards, he was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week following the Eagles’ 420-yard output of offense against North Carolina on Nov. 23.
During the 2023 season, Trapilo was an All-ACC Second Team selection. He started 12 games at right tackle and compiled a 78.4 pass blocking grade from PFF. He played a total of 720 offensive snaps and did not allow a sack in 363 dropback snaps. Trapilo took the field for every offensive snap in eight games played, including all 74 offensive snaps of a 308-yard rushing performance at Georgia Tech. He was part of an offensive line unit that paved the way for 198.8 rushing yards per game, which ranked 13th in FBS and second in the ACC.
Trapilo’s late father, Steve, was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 1987 NFL Draft (4th round, 96th overall pick) and played four seasons in the NFL.
A three-time All-ACC Football Academic team member and three-time ACC Honor Roll selection, Trapilo earned his bachelor’s degree in management from BC’s Carroll School of Management in 2023 and has been working toward his MBA.
- Trapilo becomes the third Boston College offensive lineman in the last four years – and fourth in the last six – to hear his name called at the NFL Draft
- Trapilo is the first BC player to be drafted by the Chicago Bears since Josh Beekman was selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft (130th overall pick)
