The NBA season is finally in full gear as teams are starting to click and figure out what they have to do in order to succeed early in this season. Many teams have unexpectedly come out in a much higher position in the rankings than people would have expected them to. The Eastern Conference is surely one to look out for this year.

Currently leading the Eastern Conference is the Boston Celtics, who just came off a close 110-107 victory against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night to add to their impressive winning streak, making it nine games in a row. The Kyrie Irving acquisition has been a great addition to the Celtics, as he has been the star of the show all season so far. In the last game against the Hawks, Irving played 37 minutes and went 14-22, with a .636 field goal percentage, and scored 35 points. There is no doubt that the Celtics should be overjoyed having him. Another player that had a decent game was Al Horford, who played 33 minutes and went 5-13, with a .385 field goal percentage, scoring 15 points. The Celtics currently have an overall record of 9-2.

The Detroit Pistons are second in the Eastern Conference and played their last game on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings. The final score was 108-99, and their record is now 7-3. In this game, leading scorer Tobias Harris once again delivered for Detroit. He played a total of 35 minutes, and went 7-14, with a .500 field goal percentage. He scored 20 points in their big win. Another player that contributed to the action was Andre Drummond, a 24-year old originally from New York. He played 36 minutes of Saturday’s game, going 7-10 from the field with 16 points. Drummond also leads the team in rebounds this season, with a total of 14.7. The Pistons continue to be neck and neck with the Celtics.

Other teams that won this week include the Toronto Raptors, who defeated the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night by a score of 119-114, after losing to the Washington Wizards on Sunday, 107-96.

Another team in the Eastern Conference that has won is the New York Knicks, who have won their last three games after winning 118-113 against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night. They hope to continue their winning streak tomorrow against the Magic. Kristaps Porzingis has taken the lead on this team and is among the league leaders in scoring. The team is looking to win now, not later as expected. Only time will tell on that front.
