Recap Week 2 in the NFL

Many headlines made the second week of the National Football League. However, one stands out to many as it should.

The Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes and his six touchdowns were victorious over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mahomes went 23-28 for 326 yards. Yes, he had more touchdowns then he did incomplete passes. He set a record for most TD passes in the first two games with 10. Not sure if this will be a fluke, but this kid has an arm and he looks poised to be a really good NFL quarterback.

Mahomes and the Chiefs were the number one topic for Week 2, but here are a few more new stories that made their way through.

The New England Patriots went down swinging to the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-20 in a game that I sure as heck didn’t see coming. Blake Bortles controlled the game from the very start and they never looked back even without Leonard Fournette. Look for Jacksonville to continue their unbeaten streak against the Tennessee Titans this week.

The Cleveland Browns come out short once again….and it was their own fault. The Browns had a field goal blocked in Week 1 and they missed several field goals to lose the game against the New Orleans Saints 21-18. Needless to say, releasing Zane Gonzalez was the best move the Browns have done since the beginning of the season.

For the second straight week, a game in the NFL has ended in a tie. Not only was it a divisional game but it was everything it should have been. If we could get games like that played every week, what a treat we’d be in. Kirk Cousins and Adam Thielen had the play of the season so far converting on a double coverage pass in the end zone to take it to OT.

The Raiders blew a second-half lead as they were defeated by the Denver Broncos 20-19. It’s not looking to hot in Oakland now that Gruden is head honcho. They are 0-2 heading into Week 3 to take on the Miami Dolphins and my pick goes to the Fins.

Not sure if it’s that the Rams looked extremely good or the Cardinals looked extremely bad. Either way, the Los Angles Rams stepped on the gas pedal and didn’t brake once. They defeated the Cardinals 34-0. The Rams will look to continue this hot streak against the Chargers this week. The Rams will win, but the Chargers defense will hold stout against the Rams offense.
