After the struggle from last season, USF Baseball will start with a new staff as the Bulls changed from Billy Mohl to Mitch Hannahs. Hannahs succeeded with Indiana State and is ready to start trying to get USF back to its winning ways. He announced that the Bulls will have baseball camps on December 7th and the other on January 12th. Both will take place at 8 AM EST. The players that are invited are from grades 9-JUCO. If anyone is interested it costs $50-225. This will help Hannahs and his staff to help recruit for the future of USF Baseball. The fans of the baseball program come out to the games and they want to see the program get to the College World Series. The Bulls made it back in 2021.
The USF Baseball season has three games February 14th-16th against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Hannahs wasted no time in starting to bring in recruits. The 2025 recruiting class ranked 25th in the nation according to Perfect Game. This is the highest it has been since 2015 when it was ranked 3rd in the nation. The players in the 2015 recruiting class were the likes of Shane McClanahan (1st round), Andrew Perez (8th round), David Villar (11th round), and Coco Montes (15th round). All those players were selected in the 2018 MLB Draft and had standout careers at USF. The Bulls have the highest ranking among all teams in the AAC as the East Carolina Pirates are 48th in the nation. This is big for the program and shows it is moving forward.
Athletic director Michael Kelly has made some splash as far as hiring coaches at USF. He hired Alex Golesh who has brought the football program out of its dark days. Kelly also hired Amir Abdur-Rahim to bring the basketball program back. Unfortunately, Abdur-Rahim passed away from complications from a surgical procedure just a short while ago. It was heartbreaking to lose him and the program will miss him. These are the positives that are going on at USF. The football team just recently broke ground on a brand new on-campus stadium. The motto for the Bulls is positive and moving forward.
The USF class includes ten new pitchers. Those pitchers are Will Allen RHP from Houston County high school in Warner Robins, Georgia, Nakni Anna LHP from NOC Tonakawa in Calera, Oklahoma, Christian Brown LHP from Wabash Valley CC in Greenwood, Indiana, Mikey Cascino RHP from A3 Academy in Seffner, Florida, Mason Denmark RHP also from the A3 Academy, Carter Krawchuck RHP Seminole State from St. Catharines in Ontario Canada, Jackson Mirza LHP and OF from Gaither HS in Tampa, Florida. Dominic Pontbraint LHP TNXL Academy in Norwich, Connecticut, Jonah Sarabia RHP Mieral Area CC in Columbia, Missouri, Michael Senay RHP East River HS in Orlando, Florida. It is great to see all these new pitchers because it will help moving forward.
Hannahs also added some position players as well starting with Easton Beach IF Santa Fe Catholic from Polk City, Florida, Mekhi Brewer IF TNXL Academy from Hobbs, New Mexico, Jackson Geiger OF/C Gulf Coast HS in Naples, Florida, Gabe Graulau OF Jupiter HS from Jupiter, Florida, Jack Lutz IF Whitnall HS from Greenfield, Wisconsin, Deigo Rosa C IBAHS from Humacao, Puerto Rico, Brock Silvers IF/OF Middleton Academy from Middleton, Idaho, and Eli Thomas IF Plant City HS from Plant City, Florida. Just like with the pitchers, it will be cool to see new faces. We are looking forward to the USF Baseball season it will be exciting.
