CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The BC football team returned to the practice field for the ninth practice of the spring inside Fish Field House. The team was in full pads for just over 90 minutes on Thursday morning.

Following practice, wide receivers coach Joe Dailey and linebackers coach Sean Duggan met with reporters along with sophomore linebacker Kam Arnold.

Dailey covered numerous topics, including what Kobay White can bring to the offense when he returns from a knee injury. White led BC in receiving in 2018 and 2019 and should be another dangerous weapon for the Eagles to utilize in the passing game in 2021.

“He’s explosive,” Dailey said. “He makes a lot of plays when the ball comes his way. Though he’s not back yet, I have no concerns about when he does return and rejoin us. He’s going to be what he’s always been, a consistent football player who leads by example.”

Redshirt junior wide receiver Jehlani Galloway burst onto the scene as a sophomore in 2020. After playing in eight games over his first two seasons at BC without recording any statistics, the Rhode Island native played in all 11 games last year, totaling 15 receptions for 197 yards and two touchdowns.

“He was a guy that didn’t play very much prior to this staff getting here,” said Dailey. “He was a guy that just had a giant question mark on him. What is he really capable of doing? What I was really impressed with concerning Jehlani was, he was constantly pushing himself to get better. He was constantly pushing himself for his moment.”

“He was prepared,” Dailey added. “Really, really been impressed with that young man. Love working with that young man. Every single day, he gives me his best, and he leads by example. And to see him last year score a couple of touchdowns and make key, clutch catches in third-down situations was phenomenal.”

Here are some notes from Thursday’s practice: It was easy to see the experience of Temple transfer Isaiah Graham-Mobley at linebacker when the pads come on. He moved sideline to sideline, making a couple of plays in the hole for defensive stops … Kam Arnold paired with Graham-Mobley at linebacker and the former safety continues to look smooth in his move to linebacker. Linebackers coach Sean Duggan on Arnold “I give Kam a lot of credit. When we brought up the idea of moving positions, he was all for it.” … Duggan also discussed the impact of Graham-Mobley on defense for the Eagles “I think anytime you get a guy that’s played a lot of football, I think that’s definitely something that helps. … Kind of understanding when things go wrong sometimes to be that calming presence on the defense.” … Junior quarterback Phil Jurkovec continued to find different receivers throughout the practice, connecting with Jaelen Gill, Zay Flowers, Jehlani Galloway and Ezechiel Tiede for chunk plays … Ethon Williams was back at wide receiver and made a terrific, toe-touch reception in the end zone during red zone drills … Xavier Coleman and Travis Levy continued to look comfortable in the run game. Coleman has shown throughout the spring an extra gear as he hits the seam between the tackles … Shitta Sillah had a would-be sack if the quarterbacks were live during team period … true freshman CJ Burton and Bryce Steele got some early action with the regulars during Thursday’s practice … Bryce Sebastian made a nice play for an interception in the red zone from his cornerback position.
