NBA Basketball: A look around the Eastern Conference

With a few weeks gone, the NBA season is fully underway, but it still may be too early to tell who the real dominant teams are in the Eastern Conference. With LeBron James out of the Eastern Conference, it surely means that a new team will be representing the East in the NBA Finals this year. Here is an early look at the Eastern Conference.

All records and stats are from October 30, 2018.

Biggest Surprise

The Milwaukee Bucks are undefeated so far, as they sit at 7-0 on the season. Many did not expect them to have a hot start, but so far, they are at the top of the conference and controlling every game they are in.

The Toronto Raptors also had a very hot start as they sit at 6-1, and their only loss came from the Bucks. Other than that, the Raptors and newly acquired Kawhi Leonard are playing great and could be a front-runner to make the Finals.

Middle of the Pack

The Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers are all in the middle of the pack so far, as they all have four wins. The Celtics certainly have a lot of depth and can make any team pay. The Pistons surprised many as they sit at 4-1, with Blake Griffin balling out early. The Pacers and Sixers are right where many thought they would be: near the top of the conference but not overwhelmingly dominant in the beginning. Both of those teams have great young talent and good pieces, but they have to build their team chemistry and they will be fine.  Expect the Sixers to get on a roll soon.

Biggest Flops

The Cleveland Cavaliers are really suffering after LeBron left them for the Lakers. They are currently 0-6 and have fired their Head Coach, Tyronn Lue. The Washington Wizards are also not doing great, as they currently sit at 1-5. This is surprising as they have been a middle-seeded team for the past few years, it won’t be too long before things drastically change in their organization.
