Boston College Breakdown
Roster and Staff Overhaul: Head coach Bill O’Brien reshaped the Eagles’ infrastructure in January, bringing in 28 players through the transfer portal alongside an incoming freshman class of 25. O’Brien also retooled his staff by hiring six new assistant coaches and general manager Kenyatta Watson.
Dynamic Offensive Upgrades: Boston College looks to elevate its offense behind quarterback Mason McKenzie, who comes to Chestnut Hill after playing 25 career games at Saginaw Valley State. McKenzie generated nearly 6,000 total yards in Division II and was named the 2025 GLIAC Player of the Year. He is joined in the backfield by Liberty transfer running back Evan Dickens, who rushed for 1,339 yards in 2025. Dickens finished in the national top 10 across five major rushing categories: rushing yards (5th), rushing touchdowns (4th), rushing yards per game (3rd), all-purpose yards per game (3rd), and scoring per game (10th).
Defensive Anchor and Special Teams Strength: Senior safety KP Price headlines the defense after averaging 5.4 solo tackles per game in 2025—the highest mark in the ACC and second-best in the nation. Placekicker Luca Lombardo returns after converting 94.1% of his field goal attempts, leading the ACC and ranking fourth nationally. The Eagles also excelled in punt coverage, allowing just 3.0 yards per return to rank second in the conference and fifth overall in Division I.
Cincinnati Breakdown
- Home-Field Advantage & Power-4 Tests: For the second consecutive year, head coach Scott Satterfield opens the season against a Power-4 opponent, marking the first of four straight home games at Nippert Stadium for Cincinnati. Satterfield has steadily built momentum, increasing the Bearcats’ win total by two games in each of the past two seasons.
- Elite Offensive Line and New Quarterback: Left guard Evan Tengesdahl enters the year as the nation’s top-rated guard with an 85.4 PFF grade.
