The Last week in MLB was about a player being suspended for violating the performance-enhancing drugs policy, an outfielder in the American League underwent season-ending shoulder surgery, and a third baseman will be out several weeks due to injury.

The star shortstop had been sidelined for the entire 2022 campaign up to this point due to a wrist injury but had started a rehab assignment last week.
Tatis broke his wrist in December during a motorcycle accident.
MLB announced that Tatis tested positive for clostebol, a synthetic steroid that increases testosterone.

This is the same substance that Dee Strange-Gordon tested positive for in 2016.
Tatis released a statement saying he inadvertently took a medication to treat ringworm that contained clostebol, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

He will lose about $2.9 million in salary due to the suspension.

The strange aspect of the suspension is that Tatis was close to coming back, and he used a drug that had a banned substance to treat ringworm.
The suspension hurts not only Tatis but the Padres as well.
The club made moves at the trade deadline to improve their team as they acquired outfielder Juan Soto from the Washington Nationals.
They were optimistic Soto and Tatis would help them make a deep run in the postseason.
Padres general manager A.J. Preller talked to the media several days ago after the suspension was announced and discussed they have not been able to trust Tatis Jr. for the past several months, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Speaking just now about Fernando Tatis Jr., A.J. Preller said:
"I think what we need to get to is a point in time where we trust. … Over the course of the last six or seven months I think that's been something that we haven't really been able to have."— Kevin Acee (@sdutKevinAcee) August 13, 2022

Brantley had been on the injured list since June 27 with a shoulder injury.

He posted a .288 batting average and .785 OPS in 64 games with 28 runs scored, 70 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 26 RBIs.
The loss of Brantley for the year is huge for the Astros as he is a good hitter in the lineup and plays solid defense in the outfield.
Brantley had spent his last four seasons with the Astros and played a vital role with the team.
He is set to become a free agent this winter.
