CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — James Karnik scored 16 points and DeMarr Langford Jr. added 11 in a 67-55 Boston College loss at Virginia on Tuesday night.
Karnik was 7-of-10 from the floor on the night, while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out two assists.
BC and Virginia each tallied 19 field goals on the night, but the Cavaliers enjoyed a 29-12 advantage in free throw attempts. Virginia connected on 26 of those 29, while BC made all 12 attempts.
Kihei Clark had 19 points to lead Virginia. He beat the halftime buzzer with a floater along the baseline to give Virginia a 30-25 lead, and he opened the second-half scoring with two free throws during a 12-2 run for Virginia’s first double-digit lead. The Cavaliers led by at least eight points the rest of the way. Jayden Gardner added 17 points. Clark made all 10 of his free throws and Gardner made seven straight.
Virginia has won 11 of the last 13 games in the series.
After five games in 10 days, Boston College has the rest of the week off before hosting Syracuse next Tuesday.
