The USF Bulls are hitting their stride as the 2025–26 winter seasons conclude and spring sports heat up. From historic conference titles on the hardwood to dominant performances on the diamond and the field, it has been a landmark week for South Florida athletics.
Basketball: A Historic Standard
The USF Men’s Basketball team reached a massive milestone this week. With a gritty 96–89 road victory over Memphis on Wednesday, the Bulls officially clinched the outright American Athletic Conference regular-season championship.
- Record-Breaking: The win was the program’s 750th all-time victory and marked a school-record ninth road win of the season.
- Tournament Bound: USF has secured the No. 1 seed for the AAC Tournament. They close out the regular season at home this Sunday, March 8, against Charlotte for Senior Night.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Basketball team is preparing for its own postseason push. Coming off a dominant 82–36 win over Temple, the Bulls travel to Tulane this Saturday before heading to the AAC Tournament in Fort Worth on March 10.
Lacrosse: Closing the Door on Brown
The Bulls (4–1) continue to build on last year’s inaugural success. In a tight Sunday matchup against the Brown Bears, USF entered halftime with a slim 7–5 lead. After Brown battled back to tie the game at 10–10 heading into the final frame, the Bulls’ defense took over.
- The Surge: USF scored three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter while pitching a defensive shutout to secure a 13–10 victory.
- Standout: Ava Uphues tied a career-high with five goals.
Up Next: USF hosts No. 5 Navy this Saturday, March 7, at noon for the “Salute to Service” game.
Softball: Testing the Crimson Tide
After a strong start to the season, the Bulls (16–10) faced elite competition at the T-Mobile Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa.
- The Highs: USF bookended the tournament with dominant wins over Kent State (10–2 and 9–0).
- The Challenges: The Bulls struggled against No. 7 Alabama, falling in two 8–0 contests. They also dropped a heartbreaker to St. Thomas (MN), where a 1–0 lead evaporated in the fifth inning for a 2–1 loss.
Up Next: The Bulls open conference play on the road against the Memphis Tigers.
Baseball: Winning the “War on I-4”
The Bulls (10–3) took the “War on I-4” rivalry to Orlando and returned as victors. After a midweek slip-up against Bethune-Cookman, USF bounced back to take two of three from UCF.
- Game 1: A 9–2 blowout victory fueled by a Nathan Earley home run.
- Game 2: A 2–1 thriller that went into extra innings.
- Midweek Momentum: The Bulls kept the bats hot with a 12–4 win over Stetson on Tuesday.
- Up Next: USF welcomes the Southern University Jaguars to Tampa for a three-game weekend series.
Club Sports & Beach Volleyball
- Hockey: The USF Men’s D3 hockey team capped off a spectacular run by winning the College Hockey South (CHS) Championship on March 1. Meanwhile, the women’s team continues to gain traction in their inaugural league play.
- Beach Volleyball: The Bulls (4–4) showed grit in the Seminole Beach Bash. While they dropped matches to ranked foes like TCU and UNF, they secured a victory against the University of Tampa.
