I often think about people in creative fields such as writing and producing songs or writing books and music.
The fascination for me is how those people come up with ideas that are so solid, and executed so well, that they get released and the reaction from the broad public is resoundingly favorable.
I think about what is synthesized and how. For some mysterious reason, the artist dug inside his or her heart and produced something that people who don’t even know that person are uplifted and just really like the piece of art. It doesn’t happen often, and it’s wildly difficult to pull off, but once in a while, it happens.
This exact experience randomly and unexpectedly happened to me last night, a warming of the heart, a shot of positivity, and a feeling of celebration that two guys made a song that “elevated my vibration,” which is their entire mission that I like very much, being positive, sharing goodness.
The song is called “Optimist” and the band is Crash Adams. The lead singer is Rafaele “Crash” Massarelli; the guitarist is Vince “Adams” Sasso. Boyhood friends from Toronto, Canada, the duo has been scratching away for several years to make it big in the music business – starting with basically no money.
And this song and others, plus a slick and highly integrated branding strategy featuring a red couch, have elevated them into a hot new tandem on the music scene. The band was nominated for the Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2024 Juno Awards. Part of their branding schtick has been to shoot videos on New York City Streets where Massarelli starts singing a song badly, which causes people to stop and stare. Then he starts with his hit songs such as “Optimist,” which has a catchy beat that reminds me of the undeniable likeability of the “Call Me Maybe” hit song several years ago.
I listened to the song this morning a few times and said to myself: “I love this. I love this. I love this. These guys nailed it.”
A refreshing lyric in this song is “I’d rather be an optimist.”
How refreshing when you consider all the grunge and negativity in so many songs these days. The lead singer said for the past few years he has been lying in bed envisioning this venture would become a major national and international phenomenon, and he woke up crying one night because his visualization of this dream became so vivid.
It’s no longer a dream.
These guys have hit it big.
Their hearts are what I love most. The name of the band is taken from the movie “Patch Adams” in which a medical doctor decides to use humor to elevate the vibrations of hospital patients he takes care of.
Artists all around the world, on every day of the year, persist in creating and wondering if one day someone will appreciate and notice their work and, maybe, thousands or millions of people will react with “Hey, I really like that. That’s really good. It makes me feel inspired.”
These guys did this. Believe in them. Check them out.
It’s all originality.
Feel yourself becoming more optimistic listening to this gem:
