What if the NBA is starting to realize Caitlin Clark is making the WNBA more entertaining to watch – a better product – and therefore feels threatened that fewer people will watch NBA games over the next several years? What if the WNBA starts becoming the cash cow and the NBA a product on life support? Wouldn’t that be something? Talk about irony. Talk about news. Talk about life turning upside down.

What if the NBA decides to make a pre-emptive strike preventing this from happening by offering Caitlin Clark Kent a starting role on an NBA team for $40 million a year?
What if the NBA decides to make the league co-ed where half the team is men and the other half women? Would we all become intrigued by this and start watching the co-ed games in larger numbers than the NBA games? Will there be rules about the women being allowed to foul the men harder than the men can foul the women? Will there be no more dunking because most women can’t dunk? Will the women have to become less aggressive than they play in the WNBA?
Would the mixed-sex product be more entertaining than current NBA games? Would it be more compelling than current WNBA games? What would Sheryl Swoops have to say about all this? And Geno Auriemma and Dawn Staley and Diana Taurasi? Would Diana not be chosen to play in the NBA? Would she file a protest? Would anyone care? Would the US send one Olympic team to the 2028 Games – the mixed-sex one? Would TV viewing skyrocket because Caitlin would be on the team? Is Los Angeles ready for Caitlin Clark? Are any of us?
What if Caitlin demands $100 million instead of $40 million to play in the NBA and they give it to her because she’s good for business? Will LeBron James be happy she’s making more money than him or demand to be paid $110 million a year? Will Caitlin then counter for $120 million claiming she’s better for business than LeBron? In this money dispute will LeBron stop saying how great Caitlin is?
What if she’s on the same team as Steph Curry and proves she’s a better long-range shooter than him? Will he become jealous and ask for a trade? Will they start jacking up 45 logo threes a game each just for show making the NBA a carnival act?
What if Caitlin enters and wins the NBA All-Star Weekend Three-Point Contest? What if she leads the NBA in assists and points? Will the men become jealous and petty like the WNBA players have? Will they push and shove her and try to get her rattled? Will Caitlin learn how to dunk?
What will happen to the WNBA tunnel fashion show? Will that be done before NBA games also? Will the best outfits be shown before the NBA or WNBA games? What will be the men’s breakout fashion outfit – kilts made out of jerseys with numbers and names on the back? Thongs made out of nylon nets?
Will the fashion shows be co-ed or will they just be the women playing in the NBA and WNBA? Will women fans complain they want to see more men in the tunnel fashion shows? Will that be called sexist? How will the National Organization for Women react to all this commotion? Will they protest on Capitol Hill? Will Congress get involved? Will any of this get debated in the Supreme Court?
What will happen to the diversity, equity, and inclusion policy in the NBA if half the players are women and half men, and the women get paid more? Will the policies have to be revisited and potentially rewritten? Will diversity, equity, and inclusion be considered a done deal and there won’t be a need for the policies anymore anywhere in America? Will DEI become a relic of the past like “make love not war?”
What if Taylor Swift becomes more enamored watching Caitlin play in the NBA than she does Travis playing in the NFL? Will this cause Taylor to break up with Travis? Will Andy Reid care?
What if Taylor cuts a deal with Caitlin to play a live concert after every NBA game Caitlin plays in? Will we be more interested in seeing Caitlin shoot logo threes or Taylor sing “Love Story”? Or will we enjoy both about the same? Will Caitlin play the drums for Taylor’s band? Or the saxophone like Clarence did for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band? Will she fire logo threes on stage while Bruce cranks out “Thunder Road”?
Will Travis start going to NBA games not to see Caitlin but to win back Taylor? Will he be suspicious and jealous Taylor likes Caitlin more than him?
If the answer is yes, will Travis start dating Diana Taurasi to stir the pot and make everyone involved a lot more jealous, and bothered, and drive up NBA ratings higher than the NFL?
Will the NFL then offer Caitlin to play in the professional football league, offering her more money than any football player in history?
Will she join the NFL? What position will she play? Wide receiver? Safety? Tight end? Gotta be a skill position player, right? She’s too coordinated to play left guard.
Will Taylor still love her if she plays in the NFL? Or will she think that’s a bridge too far?
And how will Travis process all this? How will his ego deal with Caitlin being 1,000 times more popular than him?
How will all of us adjust to all this societal upheaval?
How will your life be different?
Will the world be a better place?
Is Travis in over his head?
