3 Reasons WNBA Is Much More Entertaining Than NFL

You people may think I’m just chasing clicks with the headline I wrote above, that I don’t really mean this and just want you to read this so I get more followers and likes and emoji “care” faces.

But I’m being straight with you. The WNBA is more entertaining than the NFL. There are 10 or more reasons but I’ll have mercy and only share three here because you need to play golf or watch YouTube TV or something.

One: Mean Girls

I never watched the “Mean Girls” movie figuring it would just be annoying, but am wishing now that I had because girls being mean to each other is riveting theatre as we all have seen throughout this wicked WNBA season.

The meanness has been aimed at a superstar, super lightning rod, super rich, super competitive Caitlin Clark, who has set ablaze other WNBA players’ and coaches’ most unspeakable emotions. They knock her down, swing at her face, and tell her she’s not the only reason the WNBA is popular which is a falsehood and a fable.

This league is a mountain cliff of meanness masterminds. It’s a tripled-decker jealousy sandwich with a huge helping of humble pie.

There are some mean NFL football players and coaches,  but it doesn’t have the same raw and abject jealousy and vitriol ripping through it like the WNBA, a feeling as if life and death are on the line. NFL players sometimes act like they don’t like each other; most WNBA players truly don’t like each other and you get the sense this will be the case for the rest of their lives long after basketball when they’re grandmothers and into the afterlife.

Two: The Fashion Tunnel

There is no possible way the NFL could have a more entertaining tunnel. WNBA players strut into the game in the latest clothing fashions from France, Spain, New Zealand, Target, Lululemon, or wherever.

The tunnel looks wild and kind of weird in a good way with tinted sunglasses, lengthy boots, and all kinds of other eye surprises. I would much rather watch this spectacular strut than Travis Kelsey dork around in some stupid annoying outfit with that wide chump-face grin on his face, holding hands with Taylor, reminding us all he’s living at the top of the world and the rest of us are below him in every important way.

Watching men do fashion shows isn’t my idea of a good time, and I think we can all agree we’ve had more than our fill of all things Travis Swifty. He alone is reason enough to tune out the entire NFL for the rest of our days on Earth with all he blabs about boisterously, the way he behaves and yells at his coach, his insincere grin.

Three: The WNBA Plays More Rough Than the NFL

You all are aware NFL teams rarely hit in summer practices like they used to, the way Knute Rockne and others concocted the game to be played – viciously. And in games, all the rules are designed so there are fewer collisions. It’s gotten as soft as diapers across the league.

Meanwhile, the WNBA style of play has become more like spiked-up grain alcohol fruit punch roller derby with body-to-body crashes going on with more frequency and force than anything you’ll see in the NFL ever again.

These women push and shove and slap and swing and hit and talk trash and cuss and shoe and argue and bicker and whine and complain and snipe and disrespect and intimidate and belittle. It’s all so beautiful. I can’t stop watching this Shakespearean theatre starring legions of Lady Macbeth.

Conversely, the NFL has shots of Taylor Swift in the skybox waving her arms when her boyfriend scores a touchdown. There are four-hour pre-game shows on Sundays with all sorts of feel-good stories about the players being solid contributors to their communities.

The NFL has gone all safe and inside the lines. The WNBA has gone bat crazy.

You tell me, which sounds more entertaining?
