One of the coolest things is having a college baseball game in the middle of the week. Under a cloudy sky with slight rain before the first pitch. Many of the fans tried to get under cover but after the rain stopped, they headed back to uncovered seats. The USF Bulls were hosting the Stetson Hatters. The Hatters came into the game with 28 wins. They were wearing their grey uniforms with green hats. The Bulls were in all-white with green pinstripe uniforms with their camo hats. This game concluded the eight-game home stand the longest for the USF this season. The Bulls were coming off a tough loss in a series with the FAU Owls. As game time was about to happen the USF Bulls softball team was practicing as they finished up their home games for the season on Sunday.

The same problem the USF Bulls had against the FAU Owls reared his ugly head once again. That was getting batters on base and when they did get them in. The Hatters got on the board right away with two runs in the first two innings. The first three runs were scored by Stetson. The Bulls’ only two runs came on back-to-back homers. The first by second baseman Bobby Boser and the second by center fielder Jackson Mayo. It was an exciting moment because many thought this was a chance to get back into the game. At the time it pulled the Bulls within one run at 3-2. This is after the USF Bulls went through many pitchers early in the game.

The USF Bulls used eight different pitchers. Three pitchers had scoreless innings. Logan Bevis, Corey Kling, and Bryce Archie. Archie is the backup quarterback for the USF football team. The Hatters had fans in stands among the 1,327 that were in attendance. This is the 44 time these teams have faced off. The Bulls are 21-23 against the Hatters. In the last three games, Stetson has won. The Hatters’ pitching had the best of USF batters. The Bulls only had five hits three outside of the two homers. Stetson scored two more runs in the top of the eighth inning but those were insurance runs. It just was the fact that USF could not get hits one after the other. When they did, they could not do anything.

The USF Bulls now hit the road for seven games. The Bulls head to North Carolina to play the top team in the AAC the ECU Pirates. USF will play three over the weekend after they conclude that series they have a game in Gainesville versus the Florida Gators. Then they head to Texas to play the UTSA Roadrunners. The Bulls will conclude with a four-game home series to finish the season. They will host the North Florida Ospreys for a game and three versus the UAB Blazers. Either way, if the USF Bulls need to get some wins before the AAC championship that will take place in the Bulls’ backyard in Clearwater. The stadium is called BayCare Ballpark home of the Clearwater Threshers who are the single A team for the Philadelphia Phillies.
