There’s nothing interesting going on in the sports world besides Caitlin Clark and the Joker. I’ve written enough about them at least for another day or two, so I thought I’d focus on the topic of Thomas Kenney Cassidy and his uncanny ability to do pull-ups in eighth grade because he weighed 65 pounds but had a strong upper body.
He did nine straight. Sportface couldn’t do one. Too much weight in his thighs, not enough muscle in his shoulders, a guy not cut out for pull-outs but still could stick a 15-foot jumper from the baseline. Kenny won that competition and I still admire him for it.
But I want to focus on all the Zoom calls I’ve been on lately when people turn their video cameras on and off throughout the session and I wonder what they’re doing when the camera is off. Don’t you? Is Bob just spacing out and not concentrating and he doesn’t want us to see?
Do they just not want everyone to see they’re putting their heads on the desks taking a nap, yawning, or reading emails on their smartphone unrelated to the business at hand? What are they hiding? It makes me suspicious.
When I turn my camera off it’s usually because I’m growing a scraggly beard or reek bed hair or need to leave the office for a few good minutes or because I don’t want everyone to see my eyes close in real-time because the topic is making me sleepy or confused.
Sammy Sportface is ruminating about launching a blog titled Sally Sportface, the Baby Boomer Sisterhood Blog, but he’s concerned he doesn’t have enough insights into how Baby Boomer Sisters think, what makes them tick, and fears cranking out an avalanche of blogs that don’t resonate with them and never get read will be like shouting in the deep woods of Montana where no one can hear it. On the other hand, Sportface needs to broaden his market opportunities beyond the Baby Boomer Brotherhood moribund demographic with dwindling business prospects. It’s a dying breed of blog readers.
Heard about this upstart baller guy Dalton Knecht (pronounced Connect) as in connect from three-point land? A North Dakota guy, he found his way to Tennessee and popped in 39 against Auburn earlier this week and is rising fast on NBA draft boards which means he’s going to make millions soon.
Let’s say he does. In 15 years when he’s done hooping will he take that bank back to North Dakota and pour that cash into a big farm with buffaloes and other cattle that eventually end up in Publix for us to buy all wrapped in a package and place on our outdoor grills at 475 degrees?
