Pardon my rattling of your love fest, Telsey Swifty, but you’re not going to be the most compelling storyline today nor will the Chiefs or Niners, nor Usher ushering us into halftime nor the obligatory Tostitos commercial.
The best show on the boob tube starts at 1 pm when Caitlin Clark – fast becoming a bigger sensation than Swifty’s Eras Tour – goes for the all-time scoring record of 3,527 points. She needs 39 to break it and the drama as she closes in today with logo lofts will be more compelling than Kyle Shanahan 80 days a week.
The crowd will be counting down to the record. History being made by a special woman. How could this be bigger than the Super Bowl, you skeptically ask?
Because it won’t crush your soul with 700 commercials, 800 under the hood play reviews, a boring storyline of the Chiefs winning it again or all the fanfare, glitz, and American over the top-ness expontentialafied. Or a curious love affair none of us can stand any longer.
It will just be basketball, swishes, history, raising up women’s basketball, proving it’s fun to watch because they’re skilled, play team ball, and don’t make us all think about extravagances and excesses.

The Super Bowl is a boring blowhard, a love affair so overexposed we all just want to get away.
