You may not know it yet. But your daily life is about to change – soon.

Your world. My world. The lives of your kids.

A technological thunderbolt has struck.

Introducing ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer), a chatbot language model powered by machine learning technology that thinks much faster than people can.

Within the application you can — anyone can — type in a question like “write me a Sammy Sportface blog” and within seconds you’ll get a blog. It will be well crafted and easy to understand unlike if Sammy Sportface writes it himself.

You can then refine your request: “write a Sammy Sportface blog that isn’t stupid as hell.” The machine will shoot back at you a blog that isn’t stupid, no-nonsense. So refreshing. Not a waste of your time like when Sammy writes.

You can type “tell me why Sammy Sportface is a fraud.” The machine will spit back something like this:

“Sportface is a fraud because he’s an insecure writer screaming for attention. He’s a fraud because he’s not honest in what he writes and intentionally tries to deceive his readers. He writes sentences that could be interpreted as true but are questionable and often misleading or bald-headed lies.”

Released to the world last November, ChatGPT is hotter than the sun right now. In the history of online applications, it’s the fastest ever to 1 million users – it took five days. Faster than Instagram and Facebook and everything other hot Internet platform and application you’ve ever heard of.

Mull that over. Drink a glass of water.

How does it work?

ChatGPT has been trained on massive datasets of text to produce text like a person would. When you type in your request or question on the ChatGPT application, the model searches the entire Internet for articles, sentences, and other resources to find the answer.

Stunningly, it packages up the answer wicked fast and sends it to you. The machine learning excels at predicting patterns in words, sentences, and behaviors. Leveraging machine learning, the more data it ingests, the smarter it gets, and the more accurate its predictions and insights about information. Thus, an article you want is written in seconds that you can use. Same for emails, memos, legal briefs, and software code.

Students are already using this technology to write papers. Teachers question the articles, suspecting plagiarism. But here’s the stunner. The student’s paper is unique. You can’t find another paper like it anywhere on the Internet, so technically the teacher can’t prove the student plagiarized.

The technology writes an article with original sentences and paragraphs in a sequence and forms not found in any other article. How does it do that? It’s not clear. Magic of technology, an intelligence far beyond a person’s ability to grasp.

This is serious. The way we search for information is fundamentally changing. Paradigm shift doesn’t quite capture the magnitude of the changes ChatGPT will be causing in our lives.

This technology means big business opportunities and an inevitable frenzy fraught with greed and cosmic questions about whether we’ve gone too far in allowing machines to outsmart us with no return possible, whether we’re more or less secure as people and nations.

A group called OpenAI has created this technology backed by tech leaders such as Elon Musk. Microsoft has invested $10 billion in ChapGPT and plans to use it for its Bing search engine. Wudup, Google?

What you have here is nothing less than titans of technology going at it, chasing billions, upending the world, jobs, how countries protect themselves, making us wonder if the day has arrived when machines are smarter than we are and whether it’s irreversible and overall good or bad.

Soon – I predict within weeks — you will hear more about ChatGPT. It will shake you up a bit. While it’s not time to panic, you should consider learning more about what this technology is and how it could affect the lives of you and your children. Darwinian principles are now in play in new ways.

This groundbreaking feat may cause you, or force you, to re-think how you approach your job, re-skill, and change industries or professionals. Your life will change in profound ways.

You can be assured, for instance, that you’ll receive better content in the future from Sammy Sportface, produced faster with fewer errors, more penetrating insights, and less gratuitous deception. Here comes change.
