The USF Bulls have hired a new head coach. This comes after having Jeff Scott for the first nine games. Then Daniel Da Prato took over in the final three games. The team despite losing the last three games it seems the team played better under Da Prato. The program has been awful for many years. This is the third head coach that AD Michael Kelly has hired. The new hire is former UCF and Tennessee offensive coordinator Alex Golesh. He was under Danny White and Josh Heupel when they were at UCF and then moved on to Tennessee. Heupel has anan up tempo offense. When he was at UCF, they scored a lot of points and moved the ball very quickly. It did not change when he became the Volunteers coach. So are we supposed to accept the same type as Golesh?

The one thing that the USF Bulls struggled with was scoring points. On the other hand, they also had issues stopping the other team on defense. Golesh will have a lot to work on. The Bulls have players like Brian Battie that had a great season in 2022. He would be the right player to use in an up-tempo offense. The big question is who is going to be the quarterback Gary Bohanon got injured and so did Katravis Marsh. Byrum Brown came in the final three games and played very well. In one game Brown went an extended period without throwing an incomplete pass. The best part is the AAC is getting a little easier to win and win in. The conference is losing the Houston Cougars, Cincinnati Bearcats, and UCF Knights heading to the Big 12.

Golesh does have the resume and the USF Bulls should get better under him. This is not the big pick that they wanted. Many fans wanted Deion Sanders as their next head coach. Unfortunately, he decided to become the new head coach for the Colorado Buffalos. That is also a team that needs to rebuild and a conference that is also losing teams. The fans of USF just want the program to start winning and get to a better conference as the UCF Knights did. Let’s hope Golesh can do that. The one thing that has been a big issue with USF head coaches recently is recruiting. I have heard many media and fans say that there should be a circle around the state of Florida. Golesh needs to get these three-star players and mold them into a good team.

The USF Bulls just got a new indoor practice facility that could be a way to get kids to come to USF. There are also rumors of an on-campus stadium in the future. I have heard from many Tennessee Volunteers that we are getting a good coach. That is what many said about Jeff Scott. The Bulls struggled to get anything going. Scott only has four wins in three-year tenure. Hopefully recruiting will get better and the team will get better and that will lead to more wins. The fan base will buy in and start coming back that was one thing that Jeff Scott was hoping to see happen. The USF Bulls have the Alabama Crimson Tide coming to Raymond James Stadium at the start of the 2023 season. The Bulls have opponents in future seasons that could help them get to a better conference.

Alex Golesh could be that coach that the USF Bulls need. Both sides of the ball will have to get better. Daniel Da Prato in his final press conference as a head coach said the program is going up. Golesh is coming in at the right time the conference should be easier to get conference wins. The teams that are still good would be the likes of the Memphis Tigers and Tulane Green Wave. Let’s all hope we have a better 2023 than 2022 and Go Bulls!
