The USF Bulls were coming off their bye week. Many thought maybe we would see a win against the Houston Cougars. The previous game against the Tulane Green Wave started well but ended like most games this year with a loss. Many are calling for Jeff Scott to be fired. The many reasons are that the team does not look prepared at all in all three aspects of the game. With the loss of quarterback Gary Bohanon, it will be harder for the Bulls to win for the rest of the season. After attending the post-game press conference, Jeff Scott and Brad Cecil are both frustrated with the constant losing. Well, the losing end before the season comes to its end. Kickoff for the game was at noon it would be a road game for the USF Bulls.
This game was just like the ones in the past. The USF Bulls, who cannot afford to make mistakes, made them in this game. They made two that cost them the game. The Bulls are not a team that can overcome mistakes. We all know that most teams do not play perfectly. Great teams can overcome these while others cannot. It’s funny why Jeff Scott decides to go for a field goal when it was better to try and go for a touchdown. The Bulls need to score when they have the ball but in certain situations maybe go for it. The other was going for it on fourth down when it to far away for a field goal or touchdown. This allowed the Houston Cougars to have one more drive which resulted in points. Another problem that fans have been seeing is the defense getting gassed.
At times Katravis Marsh, the USF Bulls quarterback, looked like he was comfortable. Head coach Jeff Scott adjusted the playbook for Marsh’s skill set. What we saw was just like with Bohanon. It seems the offense moves better when they get both moving in the pocket. Running back Brian Battie had his third 100-yard rushing game. With that, the Bulls had the game tied up at 14 after the first quarter. The Cougars were the better team. The rest of the game they outscored the USF Bulls 28-13. USF’s defense at times was able to stop Houston. The problem continues to be there: they cannot get off the field on third down. It means that the Bulls’ opponent has possessed the ball for most of the season longer. With those possessions, the results were points. That means that the USF Bulls lose.
The final score of the game was 42-27. It resulted in a 1-7 record. Rumors have been swirling that it’s time for Michael Kelly the AD for the USF Bulls to fire head coach Jeff Scott. That might end up being what happens. The Bulls do not look prepared even in their win against Howard. I think that Scott is to blame but I also believe that his assistance is not helping the cause. There are four games left, two at home and two on the road. It will be hard, considering how the team has been playing if they will win again in 2022. Let’s hope that we do see another win, but the team will have to stop letting things and losing out of their minds. That might help them win.
