CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named to the Walter Camp 2022 Player of the Year Preseason Watch List on Friday morning. The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced a preseason list of 52 players to watch for its 2022 Player of the Year award, the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade.
Jurkovec is one of eight representatives, including five quarterbacks, from the ACC on the list.
Jurkovec played in just six games for the Eagles in 2021 following a wrist injury suffered in week two. Despite the setback, he threw for 915 yards and seven touchdowns, while guiding BC to a 4-2 record. He was named the ACC Quarterback of the Week following his return to the gridiron in a win over Virginia Tech. A week later, Jurkovec was identified as one of eight Manning Awards Stars of the Week; averaging 23.9 yards per completion in a win at Georgia Tech.
In his career, Jurkovec, who arrived at BC from Notre Dame in 2020, has thrown for 3,473 yards and 24 touchdowns in an Eagle uniform. He has also rushed for 472 yards, averaging 3.7 per carry, and eight touchdowns.
