The postseason award season is ongoing and the America East baseball conference is showing that the level of baseball being played is pretty good for a league that is a non-power-5. Recently, five members of the league were named as either a first or second-team All-New England selections. Three are from UMass Lowell, and the other two are from the Maine Black Bears who tied for the regular-season title. Let’s take a look at how these players are and how they made this list.

The Maine Black Bears had one first-team and one second-team selection. On the first team was second baseman Quinn McDaniel. The sophomore from Eliot, ME. started all 49 games for the Black Bears this spring. He finished the year with a .330 batting average with ten home runs, the most of any second baseman on the list, and 46 RBI. His slash line was .330/.414/.569 with an OPS of 983. He scored 54 runs during the season while hitting mostly out of the third hole in the Black Bear lineup. He stole 22 bases in 25 attempts. In the field, McDaniels had a .950 fielding percentage, with 10 errors in 110 chances. He helped to turn 22 double plays.

His teammate, Jordan Schulefand was named to the second team. The graduate student out of Parkland, Florida led the Black Bears in both batting average at .350 and in on-base percentage at .520. The longest outing came on March 20 at Binghamton when he went six innings of four-hit one-run baseball in a win over the Bearcats. Jordan had a five-hit game in the spring vs Hartford on April 30, and a two-HR game on May 15 vs Albany. As an outfielder, Jordan did not commit an error during the season taking care of all 85 chances that came his way. He also had 10 assists.

UMass Lowell had three players named to this list. One made it on the first team, AND two showed up on the second team. Center Fielder Gerry Siracusa was named to the first team. He stole 15 bases in 19 attempts. As the center fielder, Siracusa had a .988 fielding percentage and two errors in 170 total chances.

The two that were named second-team are infielder, DH Robert Gallagher, and outfielder Jacob Humphrey. Gallagher can do a little bit of everything. He can play the hot corner known as third base and he can play a little outfield as well as DH. The senior from Mullica Hill, NJ hit .312 for the River Hawks this season with a slugging% of .524 and an OPS of .996. He made 54 starts in 55 games with seven home runs and 40 RBI.
