Pieface, Wolford, and Rudy drink alcohol all day and night. We’re stuck together in a stenchy hotel room 48 floors high on the wretched Myrtle Beach Shore. It’s a horrible place to be. I wish I wasn’t here. Don’t know why I came. Another reunion is in ruins. Oh, the misery.
These are the high school boys I used to run with. Back then we got kicked out of places and acted like jerks. We went on with our lives and got pretty much nowhere for several decades.
We didn’t progress or mature. Nothing really panned out as planned.
And so here we are, on a weekday, playing hookie from work having nothing of substance to say to each other, hurling insults, making each other feel downcast.
The conversations all day long exude inanity inane. Mostly, we lie. They’re the same stories we tell every time we see each other, so tired and old and unimpressive. Inappropriateness runs amok.
We belittle each others’ lives. We’ve never been good to each other. Not even now as we become mentally gone geezers.
I don’t know what the purpose of this day at the beach is. Strikes me as pointless. Always does, every time.
Rudy reeks. He’s the reason for our widespread and malicious discontent and ruthless rancor. Rudy infuriates everyone in his path. He’s bad for all of us to be around. From the day we met him.
Every story he tells us during this boondoggle – he never shuts up — should never be heard by anyone. All he does is think and talk and exaggerate and fib in X-rated movie terms.
But tonight he took me to Five Guys and we got burgers and fries so I can’t say his presence has been a complete negative.
Night falls. Wolfford’s slurring his speech. For no good reason, he guzzled peanut butter liquor, gambled, and told us about all his prowess. None of us care one iota what he slurs.
This is the worst time I’ve ever had in my life.
