So why did Tom Brady return to the NFL?
The answer is not what you might expect.
He missed Sammy Sportface, the internationally unknown sports blogger who quit the profession three months ago.
“Sportface used to write about me all the time,” said TB12. “But when I retired he stopped posting blogs about me. It felt like I wasn’t relevant anymore. I wanted to read about myself because it made me feel I was important. My fan mail goes up every time Sportface writes about me.”
Brady said he liked it when Sportface would write about how much he disliked his former coach, Bill Belichick.
“Sportface nailed my feelings about Belichick,” said Brady. “He showed how hurt I was because Belch didn’t appreciate me enough for winning him six Super Bowls. He told the story about me leaving the Patriots, smoking weed with Robert Kraft, then out-strategizing Belch to win my seventh Super Bowl.”
The reason he was motivated to win his seventh and pass Belch’s sixth was to make the Sammy Sportface story about the season have a happy ending.
“I knew I had to win or Sportface’s whole story would have been pointless,” said Brady. “Instead the book ended perfectly and became an Amazon ebook bestseller, selling two copies in 12 months.”
Sammy Sportface said he’s glad Brady returned to the NFL because he can now start his next bestselling self-published ebook about the greatest quarterback of all time.
“I’ve already got an outline for the next book and it’s going to bring in a whole new cast of characters, themes, interpersonal pettiness, jealousies, and random scenes that don’t fit together,” said Sportface. “After the spectacular success of my first Tom Brady ebook, I’m sure the momentum will build for this second one and Random House will want to publish it in seven languages.”
