#AEHoops Play Starts This Week as Non-League Games Wrap Up

BOSTON – #AEHoops Conference play is scheduled to begin on Sunday with five games. Five non-conference games were played last week with UAlbany, Hartford, and Vermont picking up wins.

Notes

  • Five teams are .500 or better heading into conference play.
  • Aaron Deloney scored a career-high 18 points off the bench to lead Vermont to a 78-68 win over Colgate on Wednesday.
  • The Catamounts finished non-league play with a .667 win percentage for the fourth time under John Becker.
  • Vermont, winners of five of its last seven, is in the top 100 of the NET again this week (94).
  • Hartford earned a 78-71 road win at Sacred Heart on Wednesday. Hunter Marks scored a career-high 31 points to lead the way.
  • Perry De’Vondre’s 18 points paced UAlbany to its third win in four games, a 68-52 win at Lehigh on Tuesday.
  • UMass Lowell has won four of its last six games and is 4-1 at home this season.
  • America East teams have two wins over ACC teams (UMBC over Pitt; UAlbany over Boston College) and two over Atlantic 10 teams (UMass Lowell over Dayton and George Washington).
  • Six non-conference games are currently scheduled for this week before non-conference play gets underway.
  • The UNH at Vermont game on Jan. 6 will air on ESPNU.

League Links

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority of games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices, and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

The men’s #AEHoops preseason poll was announced on Oct. 21.

2021-22 Weekly Award Winners (Dec. 27)
Player of the Week
Hunter Marks, Hartford – Grad, Forward, Phillip Island, Australia

  • Scored a career-high 31 points in Hartford’s win at Sacred Heart on Wednesday.
  • Shot 10-of-14 from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line.
  • Added eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
  • This is Marks’ first Player of the Week honor of the season and his career.

Rookie of the Week
Justin Neely, UAlbany – Fr., Forward, Miami, Fla.

  • Had 11 points and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds in UAlbany’s win at Lehigh on Wednesday.
  • Shot 5-of-7 from the field.
  • This is Neely’s fourth career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
