Boston College Baseball Shut Out at Connecticut, 12-0

STORRS, Conn. – The Boston College baseball team lost to Connecticut, 12-0, at Elliot Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles dropped to 12-11 on the season, while the Huskies improved to 10-12.

UConn grabbed the first lead of the game in the fifth inning with a two-out, two-run home run to right off the bat of Chris Winkel. The Huskies pulled away with a five-run seventh, including a three-run home run by right fielder Kyler Fedko.

Winkel hit his second home run of the game, another two-run shot, in the eighth as Connecticut poured in five runs for the second straight inning.

Junior right-hander Joe Mancini (Fairfield, Conn.) started for BC and provided four-shutout innings. He allowed just one hit and two walks to go with one strikeout. Sophomore RHP Jon Campbell Jr. (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) was the first Eagle reliever of the day. Campbell (0-1) surrendered the homer to Winkel in his only inning of work with a strikeout and hit batter to his line.

For the Huskies, right-hander Pat Gallagher (2-1) tossed five-shutout frames to get the win. He scattered four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
