CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – For the first time this spring, the Boston College football team hit the field in full pads on Saturday and Monday inside Fish Field House. Both days were filled with the sound of the pads cracking as the Eagles finished the fourth and fifth practices of the spring.

Boston College has one remaining practice on Wednesday this week prior to Easter break.

“We did inside run for the first time and got the pads poppin,” Hafley said following Saturday’s practice. “Saturday was a good day, a ton of energy. We introduced a little bit of situational football, we did some third down, which gets the guys thinking a little bit. Competing, did a little bit winner-loser and a physical day, a lot of juice, and felt really good about it. So the first quarter is in the book and I’m pleased right now.”

Here are some notes from the last two full-padded practices: On Saturday, TJ Rayam and Chibueze Onwuka both made several plays behind the line of scrimmage on inside runs … Dennis Grosel found Ezechiel Tiede on a 70-yard touchdown pass … Phil Jurkovec found Jaelen Gill for several completions … Josh DeBerry continued his stellar play this spring with an interception Saturday … Jurkovec found Lewis Bond for a 30-yard completion … Monday’s practice featured two near interceptions by CJ Burton … DeBerry picked off his second pass in as many practices during team periods … Jurkovec found Zay Flowers for a 45-yard completion … Travis Levy ripped off several big runs, including a 70-yard touchdown scamper … Bond was found on multiple throws to keep the chains moving on third down … Jurkovec also zipped a 25-yard pass to Taji Johnson in a tight window for a first down … Matt Valecce fired a dart to Dante Reynolds for a chunk play during 11-on-11 action … Denzel Blackwell picked off an errant pass for a nice return … Xavier Coleman showed off his value in the passing game with a long completion … Bryce Sebastian came up with a big return on an interception to close out Monday’s practice … despite not having any contact on the quarterback, the BC defensive line looked to have a couple sacks on the day, including one from Donovan Ezeiruaku.
