CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Athletics has initiated a plan to return to play for BC student-athletes, beginning with the football team returning to campus today. As Boston College, the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts begin to reopen, Boston College Athletics developed a COVID-19 operational plan that will adhere to all federal, state, medical, and university guidelines to safely return and begin voluntary workouts.

Among the new protocols in place include limited personnel in the facilities at all times, face coverings to be worn in all common areas, and daily screening and temperature checks for staff and student-athletes. Increased cleaning and sanitizing measures will be in place as well for all facilities.

Per the current State of Massachusetts recommendations, all student-athletes regardless of home state will be required to self-quarantine upon arriving on campus for a maximum of 14 days.  Quarantine time may vary based on additional guidance from the state and the phase of reopening Massachusetts.

All student-athletes will be tested for COVID-19 on or about day eight (8) of quarantine. The day will be selected based on the most current medical evidence. Daily temperature checks will be conducted of all student-athletes prior to entering athletics facilities until the State of Massachusetts declares Phase 4: New Normal.

Protocols are also in place for the quarantine and treatment of a positive COVID-19 case should it occur.

MEDIA NOTE: Photographs and video b-roll will be available later today from the student-athlete check-in and will be distributed via Dropbox for media use.
