While the Chicago Bulls haven’t really experienced the greatest season this time around, the silver lining in it all is that Coby White has proven to be quite the achiever. He’s been exceptionally productive in his reserve role for the Bulls, and it is this productivity that led him to make history on Tuesday night. Battling against the Oklahoma City Thunder team, he became the first rookie in league history to score 30-plus points in three consecutive games while coming off the bench.
Yet, it seems as though things weren’t done for White with that achievement, because he also made NBA history by being the first rookie to make five or more three-pointers in three consecutive games. This saw him connect six triples against the Thunder, following his ability to hit five of those same shots against the Wizards on Sunday. Additionally, White joined Michael Jordan as the only two Bulls rookies to earn three straight 30-point games.
So, what is the secret behind his abilities? Well, White attributes it to his bouncy hair! Speaking after the game with the Wizards on Sunday, White said that his hair gives him “powers”, before commenting on it being his trademark. It’s likely that more people will be betting on White with these accolades piling up, and you can also take advantage of this William Hill promo code to participate in such yourself. Perhaps you’ve got designs on him achieving even greater things for the Bulls.
The History of Coby White’s NBA Career
It was in 2019 that the Bulls opted to draft White out of North Carolina, becoming the seventh overall pick in that year’s Draft. On the season, it seems that White has been performing to the best of his abilities, averaging 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in an average of 24.7 minutes of action per game. He has yet to officially start for the Bulls, although many believe he possesses the necessary skill set to be worthy of a position in the first five, indeed. Alas, it looks like coach Jim Boylen isn’t quite ready to make that move as of the time being.
“We’ve got a second group that’s playing pretty good again, and we’re also melding Coby into that first group at times in the game,” Boylen said. Because of this, he said that it doesn’t particularly make much sense to move White as of the moment, although it’s a possibility for the future.
Despite the fact that White has been playing at an exceptional level in his reserve role, it’s likely that big things are in his future if he continues in such a way. Boylen will certainly have to consider at least trying him out as a starter for the Bulls. If he’s able to rack up such accolades as a rookie for the Chicago team, then it remains to be seen what he can accomplish as one of the first five.
