Boston College Announces Football Coaching Hire
Phil Trautwein Joins Staff as Offensive Line Coach
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College head football coach Steve Addazio announced Tuesday the addition of Phil Trautwein as offensive line coach.
“We are excited to have Phil and his family rejoin our staff at Boston College,” said Addazio. “He is familiar with our players and our program and it will be a seamless transition with him back at The Heights.”
Trautwein returns to Boston College after serving as a graduate assistant coach on Addazio’s staff from 2013-15. The former Florida standout was part of two National Championship teams during his playing career at Florida in 2006 and 2008 as Addazio served as his offensive line coach. The 2008 Florida graduate was signed by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent and spent four years in the National Football League on the rosters of the St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints and the San Diego Chargers.
Trautwein is a native of New Jersey and spent the 2017 season as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Davidson College. He was recently named the offensive line coach at Yale prior to returning to The Heights.
Trautwein earned a bachelor’s degree in family, youth, and community sciences and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Florida, before earning a master’s degree in administrative studies from Boston College in 2014.
