The Boston College Basketball Program is hard at work putting next year’s schedule together. The Eagles have been invited and have accepted an invitation to play in the Hall Of Fame Tip-Off Tournament to take place on November 18-19 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Their opponent in the opening round will be Texas Tech out of the Big 12 Conference with Northwestern and LaSalle meeting in the other first round game. These games will be played on Saturday November 18, with consolation and championship games to be played the following day, Sunday November 19.
This is a two tier showcase, with four more teams also being bracketed to play in a smaller school tourney. Those teams are the Maine Black Bears representing the America East Conference, the Northeast Conference’s own Sacred Heart, South Alabama of the Sun Belt as well as St. Peter’s coming from the Metro Atlantic conference. Their games also being played at the same venue and on the same dates.
As an added bonus, Boston College will get a chance to play games against two of those teams in the other bracket. On Friday November 10 the Eagles will play host to the Black Bears. Then on Tuesday, November 14 BC will square off vs. Sacred Heart in non-bracketed exhibition games with the times of these games to be announced later on. The Eagles will be meeting Sacred Heart for the second straight year, while Maine has been on and off the schedule in recent years.
For all of these schools playing in this showcase event, they will be provided with a chance to play good basketball teams and build on their resume with an eye toward March and the NCAA Tournament. This provides the Eagles with a prime opportunity to tune up, dig in and prepare for the marathon of the 2017 ACC Basketball Season.
