HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Eagles jumped out to 4-0 lead in their first at bats of the game. They loaded the bases on a base hit by senior Johnny Adams and two walks. Junior Mitch Bigras drew a full-count walk to put BC on the board. With two down, Casey crossed the plate on a wild pitch before the Eagles reloaded the bases as freshman Jake Goodreau was hit by a pitch. Junior Anthony Masselli hit a towering fly ball to right, which right fielder Cam Walsh dropped, allowing two more runs to score before the end of the inning.
  • BC added three runs in the third to go up, 7-0. Martellini led off the inning with a double off the wall in left before senior Chris Balogh drew a walk to put two on. Freshman Brian Dempsey drove in Martellini with a base hit to left. After a walk, new pitcher RHP Tom Githens entered and Baldelli plated Balogh with a sac fly to right. Alu followed with a single to right to score Dempsey before a strikeout ended the inning.
  • BC added a run in the sixth as Baldelli led off with a walk, moved to second on a chopper and to third on a base hit up the middle by Adams. Casey brought him home on a sac fly to right, but the inning ended when Adams was out trying to tag up at second.
  • The Eagles scored two in the eighth to make it a 10-0 game. With one down, Maselli singled up the middle and sophomore Dominic Hardaway came in to pinch run at first. Baldelli plated Hardaway with a double to deep right center and moved to third on the throw home. Alu notched his second RBI with a groundout to first.
  • The Huskies scored six in the eighth to make it a four-run game. With senior RHP Luke Fernandes on the hill, Pat Madigan hit a lead-off home run over the left-field wall. With two down and runners on second and third after a walk and a double, Fernandes allowed a triple to Mason Koppens to clear the bases. Hanley plated Koppens with a single to right. Sophomore RHP Sean Hughes loaded the bases on two walks and issued two more to plate two NU runs, making it a 10-6 game. Alu came to the mound and got the next batter to fly out to get the Eagles out of the inning.
  • Pinch hitter Nick Fanneron led off the ninth with a solo shot to right to cut the lead to three. Charlie McConnell followed with a double and moved to third on a grounder to second. Casey came to the hill and got a line out and fly ball to end the game, giving BC the win.
