BELLEAIR, FL — Moving Day at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican proved to be just that, as Sweden’s Linn Grant delivered another masterclass in consistency to take sole possession of the lead heading into the final round.
Grant was part of a major separation Saturday, as the Pelican Golf Club yielded excellent scores for the leaders, setting up a thrilling finale to the LPGA Tour’s penultimate event.
Grant’s Impeccable Consistency
Linn Grant, who idolized tournament host Annika Sörenstam growing up, continued to play flawless golf, backing up her second-round 63 with a 5-under 65 on Saturday. Grant’s round was bogey-free and propelled her to 14-under 196 total, giving her a one-stroke lead over the field. The 26-year-old has now played 35 consecutive holes without a bogey, highlighting the incredible control and precision of her iron play this week. Grant, whose last win came in 2023, is seeking her second LPGA title and credited her confidence with the irons, stating she feels “like I can really go after pins.”
Kupcho and Guseva Charge
Hot on Grant’s heels is American Jennifer Kupcho, who also played a bogey-free 65 to sit one stroke back, and Russia’s Nataliya Guseva, who posted the round of the day. Kupcho is known for her aggressive style, but played a disciplined round, crediting her confident putting for avoiding difficult return putts on the slick greens. She is alone in second place at 13-under.
Guseva, a former University of Miami standout, shot a brilliant 7-under 63, powered by seven birdies over her final ten holes. Her stunning charge moved her into a tie for third place at 11-under, three shots off the lead, alongside overnight co-leader Grace Kim (who shot 68).
Korda Lurking, Ryu Drops
Defending champion Nelly Korda, who made a massive move on Friday, struggled to replicate her low score but remains within striking distance. Korda overcame some early bogeys but posted a 68, leaving her tied for eighth place at 8-under, six shots behind the leader. She will need a phenomenal final round to secure an unprecedented fourth win at this event.
Former leader Haeran Ryu shot a 70 and dropped into a tie for fifth place at 10-under with Lucy Li and Gaby Lopez.
The leaderboard is tightly packed, with six players within four strokes of the lead. The stage is set for a dramatic conclusion on Sunday as Grant attempts to hold off an elite chasing pack to capture the title at the event named for her Swedish hero.
