The USF Bulls will have their regular season finale in just a few days. It will be senior night and the Bulls are hoping to become bowl-eligible. Head coach Alex Golesh wants to have as many people as possible in the stands at Raymond James Stadium. He says that he wants the seniors and players to go out with what could be possibly their last football game. USF is coming off a disappointing loss to the UTSA Roadrunners. For many, the Bulls should not have five wins on the season but they do. This is the first time this program has had this many wins since 2018. The kickoff is set at 7:30 p.m. EST. It will be cool to be under the lights at Ray J. USF’s opponent is the Charlotte 49ers, a team that is not having a very good year but could end USF’s season.
The Charlotte 49ers come into Saturday’s game with a record of 3-8. They started their season with a win over the South Carolina State Bulldogs. After that win, they lost five games in a row. Charlotte’s second win came against the East Carolina Pirates. Their final win up till this point came in overtime against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. Last week versus the Rice Owls, the 49ers struggled on offense. They only had 158 yards of total offense. Their defense gave up nearly 400 yards. If this occurs this week USF will light up the scoreboard. Charlotte is going to have their hands full. On the other hand, they could be lying and waiting to have a great game. The 49ers could derail USF from reaching a bowl game.
Some games define a program. This Saturday’s game is that one for the USF Bulls. Many thought that Alex Golesh could not turn this program around this fast. When you hear him talk during the pre-and post-game press conferences, he has the kids believing in what is happening. Last week’s game started well, but it showed that there is still work that needs to be done. The offense has been clicking on the arms and legs of Bryum Brown. His favorite target has been Sean Atkins who has broken program records in the last two games. The defense was outplayed by the speed of the Roadrunners. Charlotte does not have that speed. The USF Bulls defense will still have to come and play. USF wants to play one more game and if they win that will occur.
This game means more to the USF Bulls than it does for Charlotte. The Bulls need to continue to play the way they have on offense. USF defense needs to prepare for a battle if they play well, it should be a win in the end. Players and coaches want the fans to show up. Last checked tickets were cheap. It’s a holiday weekend and their much bigger matchups going on. Including one going on in the state between FSU and UF. It’s a night game hopefully the fans will show up. The Bulls must stay disciplined and win the turnover battle. If they do that the Bulls will be playing in a bowl game. See you at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday night.
