The USF Bulls had an opportunity to become bowl-eligible for the first time since 2018. Their opponent was the UTSA Roadrunners. The Roadrunners are one of the best teams in the AAC. The exciting Alamo Dome was ready and they love their Roadrunners. It was senior night so they wanted to send the seniors out on a high note. UTSA fans knew that the Bulls were a team that was coming up. For USF fans, it is exciting that the team has won five games. That has not happened for a long time. This was also a rare time for the Bulls to be on a nationally televised game on a Friday night. There were Bulls fans in attendance in their green and gold.

The USF Bulls got the bowl first. In the process, they marched right down the field and took a 7-0 lead. The offense, behind Bryum Brown, has been humming most of the season. The one question was could the Bulls stop Frank Harris? Harris has almost every record at UTSA. The Roadrunners answered the touchdown with one of their own. At that time it looked like it would be a back-and-forth game. USF went to their reliable wide receiver Sean Atkins. Atkins broke the reception record last week and this week he broke the yardage record. The Bulls would score on a Brown touchdown and take a 14-7 lead. That is when the wheels came off. The Roadrunners scored 21 points in the second quarter. At the half, they would be up 28-14.

The second half started with the Roadrunners scoring a touchdown and many Bulls fans knew that the game was over. The defense needed help with UTSA’s speed. Harris and the rest of the offense just beat the USF Bulls’ defense to a spot and there is where the ball would be. UTSA scored 21 more points in the second half. The Roadrunners showed why in their first year in the conference they could be in the AAC Championship game. On the other hand, it shows where USF still needs to improve. Most Bulls fans had a funny feeling this was how this game would turn out. The crowd was sparse for a UTSA game. No matter what, the Roadrunners won the game 49-21. They improved their overall record to 8-3 and 7-0 in the conference. UTSA started the season 1-3 and is now on a seven-game winning streak.

For USF Bulls fans, they will have to wait and hope they beat the Charlotte 49ers this upcoming Saturday to become bowl-eligible. The 49ers are not having a good season. If the Bulls just play their game they should beat the 49ers. They cannot give up over 600 yards and expect to win. Coach Golesh said they did not play their game. Just like its losses in the past, the Bulls have responded. The one thing that Golesh wants for the players is for the fans to show up on Saturday night. It will be senior night for the Bulls and it will be nice to keep playing football beyond this game for the seniors and team.
