We are just over a month away from the start of the USF Bulls football season. This will be the second-to-last season for USF to play at Raymond James Stadium. They will open an on-campus stadium in 2028, which fans and students are excited about. Many experts have the Bulls finishing third in the AAC. It would be cool if they could host and win a conference championship. This will be the third season under head coach Alex Golesh, who has done well in the previous two years. In both of those years, the Bulls won six regular-season games, earning a bowl bid and winning both postseason bowl games. There will be six games where the Bulls will wear special uniforms or themed items.
Game One: Aug. 28th vs Boise State Broncos Theme: Back in Black
The first game will be on the opening day of the season, August 28, against Boise State. The theme is Back in Black; this will start Labor Day weekend, and the USF Bulls will be on black uniforms. Those uniforms will look great as the game kicks off at 5:30PM EST and will be under t5:30 lights of Raymond James Stadium. There will be a USSOCOM Para-Commando jump into the stadium that will take place before kickoff. Some fans do not like the all-black uniforms, but they are different, and it would be an awesome way to start the season with a win over Boise State.
Game Two: Sept. 20th vs South Carolina State Bulldogs Theme: Bay Day
This game will have a noon kickoff versus the South Carolina State Bulldogs. This game is themed for Bay Day, where the Bulls will highlight the impactful members of the community, including teachers, through the annual Extra Yard for Teachers. This will also include the annual HOT Band Day, where local marching bands from the Tampa Bay area are welcomed to the stadium. It is cool to see the bands that show up and get the experience of playing in front of a crowd at an NFL Stadium. The Bay Day logo will be on the back of the bottom of their helmets with all green uniforms with gold helmets.
Game Three: Oct. 3rd vs Charlotte 49ers Theme: Flashback Friday
This game will be nationally televised on ESPN 2. This game will be an homage to when the program began in 1997. With that, there will be retro-branding music and activations. Along with all that, it will also be the Hall of Fame where the USF Bulls welcome five new members including former head coach J,im Leavitt and former standout linebacker Kawika Mitchell. Leavitt was the program’s first head coach, and many consider it the best years of the program up till this point. The 49ers are the first conference game for USF. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
Game Four: Oct. 18th vs FAU Owls Theme: Homecoming
This will be the third conference game for the USF Bulls and will be homecoming. This is one of those games that are exciting because most of the students are there to help celebrate with their team. The homecoming activities will take place on campus throughout the week, including the Friday night campus parade. The homecoming court will be announced at halftime. This is a mid-October game that could be vital to the Bulls.
Game Five: Nov. 6th vs UTSA Roadrunners Theme: Salute to Service
This kickoff is scheduled for either 7:30 or 8 PM, and this will be a Thursday night game. This is like the homecoming game is a fan favorite. This is the game where the USF Bulls pay homage to all our great and brave service members and first responders. They will be wearing white helmets with the horn logo in red, white, and blue. Before the game, the USF Office of Veterans Success will host a pregame tailgate for military members. This will also be a nationally televised game and will have a U.S. Coast Guard flyover before kickoff.
Game Six: Nov. 29th vs Rice Owls Theme: Fan Appreciation Day/Senior Day
This will be the last regular season game for the USF Bulls, and it will end the season and conference play. This is where they roll out the red carpet for both the fans and seniors who are playing in their final regular-season game. Before the game all the seniors and their family members will be on the field as they get a framed jersey for them to keep. The fans will receive prizes throughout the game. This will hopefully be icing on the cake, wrapping up another great season of USF Bulls football.
